Night vampire 🦇

Hundreds of books, stories and movies dedicated to vampires. They appear in various forms - from beautiful young men and women to terrible grinning monsters, as it was, for example, in "Nosferatu".

Perhaps, vampires are my favorite mystical characters, even though they are so popular that everyone is already tired of them)))

I do not draw beautiful vampires, but portray the characters as frightening as possible. The way the ancient Slavs described them! This character is no exception)

By the way, in the folklore of my country there are a lot of stories about vampires and they differ from the image shown in the movies.

For example, vampires could be those people who were born in the aquatic shell of the fetus or already with developed teeth and tail. Suicides, servants of witches, or improperly buried people could become vampires. All of them were actually already dead and had only one thirst in their lives - the thirst for blood.

To prevent the dead from becoming a vampire, it was necessary to put the crucifix in his coffin and place some object under the chin to prevent the body from eating the burial shroud. It was possible to nail clothes to the walls of the coffin for the same reason, put sawdust in the coffin, or pierce his body with stakes.

Are you asking why sawdust? The Slavs believed that when a vampire wakes up in the evening and must count every grain of these sawdust, which will certainly take the whole night until morning comes and kills him)

Slavic vampires, like the rest of the "evil" of Slavic folklore, are afraid of garlic and love to count the grains. Vampires could be killed by stake, decapitation, burning, repetition of the funeral service, and spraying the body with holy water.

What stories do you know about vampires?
