Drawing **Neeko** from League of Legends Step by Step

Hello everyone, a few days ago my 11-year-old little nephew was visiting my house, he has inherited the fascination for video games just like me. So I've been teaching him to play League of Legends, and one of his favorite characters is Neeko. One day he saw all my drawings and asked me why I had not made one of Neeko if she is so pretty. So after meditating a little this last week I got motivated and spent 4 days drawing Neeko. If you want to see the step by step read on.

So, who's Neeko?

Neeko the curious chameleon belongs to the universe of League of Legends, of a race called the Oovi-Kat. These peaceful beings are characterized by their essence called Sho'ma. This essence is what allows them to mix with other beings, just as a chameleon can adopt the physical form of other beings. That is why Neeko was created from the female appearance of an anthropomorphic chameleon.

The first thing you should know is that all the drawing was done with graphite and colored pencils. The color brand I use is called Prismacolor, it is very good for mixing colors and has been my favorite since I started drawing.

1- I made only the silhouette of the character with guide lines because as I would do in color I had to use the graphite pencil as little as possible. After doing them I started with the eyes, for me it is one of the easiest points to start a character.

2- At this point I got carried away by inspiration. First I made a first colored skin and the first strands of hair. If you pay attention, you will realize that as I go along I corrected some details in the shadows of the skin, including the eyes and eyebrows. As you go through any drawing you realize that there are details that you could improve and that happens to me often.

3- One of the biggest challenges I had in making Neeko were the colors of her skin, to give the sensation of changing colors, between a green chameleon and human skin, flashes, it was complicated but I think I succeeded. The first thing with which I experienced this was in her neck, mixing skins, brown and different green colors I got to the tone I wanted. I also started making the pinkest shades of her hair.

4- Neeko's hair has blue, purple and some strands are pink. So I didn't recreate her hair exactly, but I used the colors to make her look like her and not lose her essence. An important tip for people who draw with colored pencils is that to create a good mix between two colors you use the white pencil until you get the effect you want. The same happened with the flowers that decorate her hair, based on the colors I recreated them differently.

5- As I said before, the skin was the most complicated. In this image, you see it already finished but the part of her chest was a real challenge. All I can say is that patience is everything, at this point it had been several days until I returned to the drawing ready to finish it. After I was satisfied I started with his shoulders and arms, I think it was my second favorite part of this drawing after her hair.

6- Neeko wears petals as a decoration that float above her head. As these do not follow any color pattern I made them mixing between green, pink and purple colors. I also finished the part of her arm where the strip of his clothing is seen, which is adorned with two sheets of some plant.

7- So Neeko was almost ready. Only missing its characteristic chameleon tail or the little that is seen of it in the drawing at least. Haha. It looks a lot like a plant with small pink leaves. I mixed greens and purples to make part of the shadows and several shades of pink for the leaves that are part of it. And after 4 days it's finally done!

Thats insane wow :o

This is quite the piece. I don't suppose you'll be participating in #Inktober this year? I cannot say I will myself, but I may take up producing a photo each day. In any case, it begins tomorrow - so here's our chance. I think your younger brother's advice was spot on, might I add.

Hey, I don't think I'm participating in the Inktober this year because last year I tried and I left at day 15, I like to take my time to draw, it's a real challenge for me. Mostly because I like to draw with a pencil and paper and that takes me a little time in detail, anyway last year I tried to do it and I think I did interesting things if you're curious you can check it here: 1, 2, but this year I don't feel capable. Thanks for stopping bycora peque.png

Excellent work. The character feels so real.

I think so too, I think I did a good job with the lights and shadows and I still can't believe it. I think I will follow this same technique from now on. Thank you for taking the time to visit my post and comment cora peque.png

Your nephew is very lucky to have you. Great article @ilhuna.

Haha thanks, I guess it's true, can you believe he sent me a lot of images that he wants me to draw?
