hah here is my tutorial, projection mapping, lay out the flat pieces, place the seams where there are less stretches if the geometry is warped. Try to keep it simple and know where everything goes, I normally do that in my main app, I make all seams there make the quick outlines so to speak and then head over HeadUs and I stretch them there and pack, fix whatever is broken, then head over again in my main app and make the final adjustments to the positions.
Done Layout perfect, no stretches, simple seems and less of them.
I normally map Characters and products, I don't bother making UV's for everything, since it's a hassle, but Max has some great tools for UV's maybe check out some fun tutorials, Gnomon or some big studio or quality artist.
That tends to be fun :) and you get to see pro's in action :)
