Where The Weird Art Lives.....

in #art7 days ago (edited)
Hello ! Did you think I died or something?? Well, not yet.
I did have a horrible toothache that hurt very bad though. I have never had a toothache before, not a real one that is. Root canal and cap next week.... joy, joy, but if you need it, I suppose it's good it exists.
While I wasn't posting I was still creating. Creating what?... well, it could be I was creating a mess. 😂 ...but creating is creating and it is fun regardless. It is nice though if once in a while something good ends up happening.
Isn't this an odd creation? The top has paper background with acrylic paint on top. The bottom has multiple layers of papers and paint. I don't know what it all is, but it does have a bird and some eggs. Tweet! Tweet! Do you like the watch faces included in the bottom jumble? I found a book of watches at one of the thrift shops, so some of them will probably be included in a lot of things going forward.

Before I made the above art, I made this one below. It is not finished but..... you can see some similar composition in the top being multiple blues and the bottom being a random mish-mash of papers and paints, however, as I go along I sometimes take photos which is like stepping back from the art to see it from a different perspective and this time, when I did that, I saw the chicken and the pig conversing. What ?? A chicken and a pig???? Where did THEY come from??
The fact is I don't really know. I was just doing my thing close up and they snuck in. Once I saw them, I couldn't continue on it as I had to think on whether I was going to change my direction and include those accidental characters or if I was going to carry on being random like it stared out to be. So... I put it aside and began again, with blues at the top and randoms at the bottom, creating the one you saw in the first photo. I still don't know what I am going to do with this one. The chicken side also includes a watch face. There is something I really like about including them in random areas.

Have you ever seen some art by some better artist in a gallery or wherever and saw a piece that had no more on it than you see below? I have and I didn't get it. LOL ! What tha ??? I always felt like they were pulling my leg or something. So one day, I began to create some art. It really was only about color and I was making it up as I went along.... like normal. I got this far and it seems like it was late and so it was left like this over night, although when I painted it, it was oriented in a landscape position and those yellow rectangles were on the left.
The next day when I came back past the art table, I looked at it and thought it was a nice start to fun color. However, over a few days as it lay around the art area, it began to make me laugh inside when I would see it and it reminded me of those odd-out pieces I had seen here and there where it looked like the artist was playing a joke on everybody else. I then decided I needed to do one like that too and in fact, I already had and this was it!
Yes, I know there is no accounting for what goes on in my head, but when I die, I'm sure this will be worth millions.

This is odd too. You would never be able to guess how many versions this little 5x7 canvas board went through before it landed here. This is not even close to my beginning vision. It got somewhat good and then went bad, got a little better and then traveled south again, over and over. Now it is as done as it is going to be. There is something I oddly like about most of it. Odd being the key word here. The only part of this that is paper is the big circle to the middle/right and the half circle on the bottom left.

This was one I had hanging around a long time, I had put on the lovely orange/pink/gold papers and the pizza slice and other bits that included some blues. I liked all the papers I had made and I liked the bold colors a lot, but it just needed something. Over time I kept passing it over and one night I decided to go through the "unfinisheds" and pick one to try to bring to a finish. I sat there and stared at it a few minutes and then I decided maybe it needed some black marks on it somewhere. I got out my permanent marker, ran the squiggle down from top right to the left and then I dropped down on the right and added another and.....it was done!

🤣

The last few nights I played at my art table, I used this paper to use up leftover paints randomly. I do that a lot and then use them for collage papers later. The larger color areas in the back landed over a couple of nights and then last night, I used to to blot thick paint off of what I was working on and it created all the random spots. I really loved the wild combination of colors and now I want to keep it as a piece of painted-only art instead of tearing it up for collage paper. I think I will mount it on a canvas board at some point and keep it because looking at the wild, bold, random colors makes me happy.

NB The watches are a fabulous addition.

Hi!

My tooth is on the mend or at least it is being quiet while waiting to be worked on. Much better than before.

Art DOES go on. It is always nice to have something to draw your mind away from unfun things. Most of these were oddities I thought, but even those are fun to create. Sometimes I just can't beat them into submission. LOL

Thanks! I like the watch faces too, peeking out here and there. I have been thrifting, looking for old books that might have things in them I can use. No telling what else will be peeking out later. 😄

Thank you for stopping over. I appreciate it.

I've often wondered if people have an idea of what their artwork is going to look like or does it develop along the way? I'm still no wiser but I'd love to create something as good!

PS Glad you haven't died!

Hi!

I think some people do have some idea of what they are looking for a piece to look like when they are finished and some that don't. I am one that 99 percent of the time, I have no finished vision. With the abstract, I usually make it up as I go. Once in a while I may have seen a small step somewhere else that I would like to try and I may start out with that in the beginning, but I nearly never have any idea where it will go after that. Sometimes it is some beautiful paint colors that inspire me to start and sometimes it's a collage paper or two that I want to play with. Randomly painting the papers is just as fun as using them to create a piece of art. I admit I have boxes of papers I've painted, stenciled, pressed, too many probably. 😄

With abstracts, paint and collage, I think anyone can create something fun. I have painted for years, but only started the collage adventure in March of 2024. I just thought it would be fun to try and had no idea how much I'd end up loving playing with the papers. Now I'm addicted!

You never know till you sit down and play in it. You may find you love it too and have a very good knack for it.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it.

That was interesting. I've been trying to find a new hobby for the winter months. This might be it. Whether I can pull it off is a different matter. Onwards and upwards! I think. 🙂

If I were to choose I'd go with this one, not that the others are not good, I just like this one better, for the colors I suppose.

You have a good eye for pairing bits and pieces together and creating lovely collages, paintings.

I'm glad you're back. The toothache is not good though.

Yes, this one is really bright and happy.

Thank you! As with anyone that creates I'm supposing, some come out fairly interesting, while other..... they do their own thing and I can't always figure out what that "thing" is. ha ha....it's ok. Even really good artists don't get masterpieces every time. My art table is a happy place to be and I'm getting lots of practice.

No...this type of toothache nobody could love ! The worst of it was only a few days and it was already getting better by the time I got to the dentist. Then it was antibiotics and wait to get drilled. 😂

Thanks for coming by. I appreciate it.

Toothache or not, you have been busy! I can't pick a favourite, I like them all.

Hi there !

It's ok not to have a favorite, they are mostly a bit odd this time. (or maybe every time LOL)

The very bad toothache was so new to me. Sure I have had a sensitive tooth here or there that warned it could get worse if not addressed, but luckily, I had never experienced this and I hope I never do again! Time will tell, as always.

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate it.

Bad toothache is extreme. I hope it's all in the past now
