In one of the northern districts of St. Petersburg - Kolomyagi, there is a beautiful and well-preserved wooden church. This is the church of St. Great Martyr Dmitry Solunsky. The church was built in 1905 - 1906 according to the project of the Russian architect Alexander Aleksandrovich Vseslavin. The church was consecrated for the glory of the Christian holy Great Martyr Dmitry Solunsky .

The history of the construction of the church began in 1899, when the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga blessed the inhabitants of the village of Kolomyati for collecting donations for the construction of the church. Architect Alexander Alexandrovich Vseslavin donated a project of a one-storey wooden church, and also promised to supervise the construction from the first to the last stage. The money for the construction of the temple was collected by subscription to residents of the village of Kolomyagi and numerous summer residents living in this countryside. In 1905-1906 on the Glass Hill built a wooden church that has survived to this day.
During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, many wooden houses and structures in the village of Kolomyagi were dismantled for firewood (fuel), but the church was preserved. The entire period of the war and the blockade of Leningrad (St. Petersburg) in the church were held divine services.
Today, the Church of Dmitry Solunsky in Kolomyagi continues to operate. At present, it is the rarest wooden church of pre-revolutionary construction in St. Petersburg.
