Freeform and Popsugar partnered together to create The Mermaid Museum as a marketing tactic to create buzz for Freeform's upcoming new series, Sirens. Located in the heart of Hollywood, the pop-up museum experience gained lots of attention forming a line down the block. Luckily, my very good friend, Danny, who worked on the project, hooked me up with front-of-the-line- access.

The interactive experience had 10 consumer engagement points, primarily Insta-worthy photo-ops. The first room as you entered used props to recreate the bait shop set from Sirens. There, you could interact with an actor playing the part of shop owner. He told us the legend behind one of his prized possessions, a 150-year old braid cut straight straight from a mermaid's head. The mystical braid has powers that allows it to get more beautiful with age.

Next, the actor guides you into a larger room that has the remaining engagements. A pop-art mermaid mural, a chance to write a secret to the sea, a underwater diorama scene, an oversized pearl and clam. The two most popular engagements were the real-life underwater siren, played by an actress, you could watch her swim and shriek through a portal into her tank, as well as the "underwater"-projected ball pit room. This one was by far the most popular and had a line too long to wait in.

For me, the most thrilling part of the exhibit was the exterior mural and interior pop style mermaid mural. Both were created by a friend of mine and Danny's, Sandy. Sandy and his brother Shelby work together as ShelbyandSandy as an art duo. It been so exciting seeing them grow to fame. They have been commissioned by numerous celebrities such as Zac Efron, Drake, and Rachel Zoe.

There's nothing better than seeing and supporting friends' success!

The experience was fun and I loved the attention to detail! They even had all-inclusive mer-bathrooms.
