Hello and good Saturday! 💛
The sun is shining here in Portugal and it finally feels like spring!! How wonderful it is to feel the warm sun again!
Since my last post about my portrait painting in progress I've worked on my painting for a couple of more sessions and now I feel like I've come to a serious holt... Like, I know there are still things to be done, but the initial excitement that I felt about this painting has gone out of me and I think the best thing to do is to leave it for a little while.
But! Before I do just that though, I wanted to write you a little update on what's been happening and hear your thoughts. Maybe you have any suggestions to help me improve the situation on the canvas, hehe, that would be great!
So let me fill you in!
This is the painting so far. I think my main problem right now is the shadow under her chin.. it's just not right, at all.. A part from that though I guess it's coming together. I really want some nice texture in this painting though, and that takes time...
A lot of photos have been taken during these couple of days, so here you go, process picture feast!! 🤗
So like you can see I've been working a lot on the hair and neck/ chest area. I've also been working on pumping up the values in the face and getting more variety in my color temperatures.
I think I am getting somewhere, but it's so hard to know how far to push something. It especially feels hard after being away from oil painting for a while and it's like I see my process and the finish line a bit differently than before.
I'm also interested in seeing how far I can push it.. Before I've more just arrived at a point where I like the look of the painting and decided to call it finished, but now I want to push myself beyond that point so I can learn new things and solve new problems.
And I will, I just need a little time away so I can look at this with fresh eyes! 🙆
What do you think?
I think I'm going to keep the background as it is for now as well. I've really come to enjoy these light simple backgrounds!
Well that was my portrait painting project so far!
💛❤💜💙💚
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Great work!

Thank you so much for your comment @abeera! :D <3
always pleasure :)
The clairty of the eyes that seem to be filled with light and the colour of the skin is amazing. I am loving this as it continues to get more and more amazing.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment and thoughts @donnadavisart! 😊
excelent work!
Thank you very much @marty-arts! 😊
Very very detailed!
A bit, yeah, heheh... :)
Really beautiful so far. You've got an amazing attention to detail. A lot of really subtle temperature variation that really makes her feel alive. The forms are really delicately rendered as well, love the nose and mouth area. I'll be following to see where this goes or what's next :)
Thank you very much for your comment and compliments @midlet! :) And thank you for the follow, I appreciate it! :)
WoW the detail, the colour of the face!!!
Thanks for sharing your artwork.

Heheh, thank you very much @love100! :) Thank you for your support! ;)
It's really amazing, looking at the process photos, watching her come to life, layer by layer. I really have nothing helpful to say, other than straight up encouragement, because your work is beautiful. It really does help, when we get stuck on a piece, to just walk away for a bit, and come back to it with fresh eyes. Cannot wait to see a future progress report!
