Bio-Ships

13 x 21 inches, 300lb Hotpress Cotton Paper, Watercolor and Gouache

It felt like I took a trip to outer space after going without sleep the second day into this project. I think this actually helped the spacey quality of this painting. My favorite part of this painting was making the stars. I like making dots, I have been known to make a painting out of dots, that method is called pointillism. I have mastered that technique and that's why you haven't seen any pointillism work from me since I am still exploring techniques, being a novice artist and all...
What's cool about my organic spaceships are, we humans are basically the ship's gut bacteria. The food we eat and shit out fuels the spaceships and the spaceships protect us and give us the means to travel outside of earths protection.
The ships were genetically produced by crossing space going bacteria found on asteroids with humans and other earth creatures. One of the reasons human's haven't migrated to outer space is because we cannot handle the extreme radiation and other conditions our earth shields its inhabitants from. We solved that problems by creating humans and spaceships that are happy with radiation and lack of gravity, which totally screws up earthlings.
The jelly-fish like spaceship is actually a space station and it is fully sentient working with it's human inhabitants to maintain a healthy living environment. The spaceship is also sentient and works as an equal team member with the humans that live within it's guts. I will be writing a story later this winter about all the ideas I had while painting.

A bioship is a type of spacecraft or starship described in science fiction. Bioships differ from other types of spacecraft in that they are composed, either predominantly or totally, of biological components, rather than being constructed from manufactured materials. Because of this, they nearly always have a distinctively organic look. wiki

Cleo The Cat
She has been banned to our garage before we go to bed for the night after keeping me up all night playing with our bedroom door. I think it was day 2 of this painting and I didn't get any sleep because of this bitch of a cat. I love her, but I swear she loves to screw with my head. She knows she isn't supposed to touch our door, she has been caught so many times before. She runs every time I catch her trying to open doors. When I don't get any sleep and I work on my art I get higher than a kite, this is one of the reasons I don't have to do drugs. My life is weird enough living in this body, it's a trip!

Oh I had this feeling a few times where I don't sleep for a few days and feel so high as if I took some heavy drugs haha :D Definitely quite interesting experience, I'd say. And your cat seems to be a little devil, ain't she ? :P
As for the art, do I even need to say how amazing it is ? I bet you already knew that :)
Resteeming this !
Thank you @trendo, I don't think my cat knows she is a cat, she acts just like one of the family, which, one of their delights is screwing with grandma's head. I guess they all know I am an easy target. I think the painting is amazing for me, I can tell all my practice is starting to pay off because rendering ideas is getting easier and almost fun!
I think I am always high, I never understood why people need to do drugs, I mean reality is really, really weird. Thanks for the continuous comments and supporting me while I was working on this piece. I am not a very social person but I have found that the feedback and companionship you all have offered enjoyable. <3
Haha I think most cats don't know they are cats because of their weird behavior.
I love supporting others but there's not much I can do yet besides commenting and resteeming. Keep up with the awesome art :)
I like rewards but my heart loves someone who makes the time and effort to connect with me❤️
It's perfect reddust so many details there wow, good good job
This was one of my favorite paintings to work on because everything came from my imagination. Thank you @dim753 for supporting this series, it was really fun talking to you about all my ideas.
Welcome red i always support your artwork and enjoy with each word :)
@reddust, incredible work as always. I have always enjoyed the butterflies, but this takes your creativity to a new level. Thanks for sharing!
The spaceship looks kinda like a butterfly! Man this piece was fun, I could do this for a living and be a happy camper for the rest of my life. Thank you for supporting me @sumatranate, you said I've helped you but I feel you helped me even more.
Let's just keep helping each other!
Such an amazing piece of art!
It is very different and your description brings a whole new term to spaceships 😊
I think my art is different because I don't copy anyone else, it all comes from my limited skill-set, I am just a beginner type artist, not college trained and my imagination. Thank you for stopping by @gingenetwork.
You're very welcome!
I looks professional I guess some people are just born with it 😊
All the best @reddust
@reddust,
That's remarkable! I was waiting to this day, now a great water color painting is at in-front of me! Amazing work and amazing effort! I know how hard is this! Really appreciate your work and WELL DONE!
Cheers & looking for the next~
Yeah, this is hard work but just like anything we like and want to become proficient, we need practice, keep on learning, and a bunch of stubbornness. Thank you @theguruasia.
@reddust,
I assure this is a hard work! I did it before and stopped :D So I know how hard it is! But the way you are doing this is impressive!
That one looks like it floated up from the great unknown. The deepest place in the psyche.
I need to take another long meditation retreat to find out where that stuff comes from. Just meditating at home for 20 minutes to an hour won't take me deep enough into the bottomless pit of my mind lololol
hmm not sure about the novice part. You definitely have an edge on me on traditional media. It is cool to see that you are taking up the challenge of spacecraft like you talked about doing. Organic spaceships are actually pretty rare. It is neat to see you exploring your way through the subject using them.
Keep up the good work. You inspired me to do some more traditional type medial stuff all though I still used my tablet to do it. I am looking at investing in some art supplies. In the meantime I got a new midi controller and composed several pieces a few that I put on here but I have returned to doing my environmental art feeling refreshed from the break. https://steemit.com/art/@iamwne/creating-virtual-realities-building-the-savanna-an-environmental-artist-s-work-flow
This post includes a discussion about the process and workflow of creating this type of work and I made sure to give you a nod in the post for being a constant inspiration. Namaste!
Working with software or paint take the desire to become the best one can be, you already have that, @iamwne. I'll check out your link because I am very curious about software/hardware type artwork. The best art articles have the process of creating included ;-)
It's amazing how you used your technique.. This is not just Art. Its how you see things, in different ways I guess.. All the best @reddust. And thank you for giving some education about techniques.. Cheers..!!
I wish that sapphire pearl existed in the world. I would make divinations with it!
I want a philosophers stone 😁
wow that is so cool! great art again reddust!
Thank you @brothermic.
Cats and art are always an interesting proposition...
Love how the bioships turned out! Something about the whole concept feels very "right" to me; almost as if I "know" this type of thing already exists out there, somewhere. As I recall, there was a science fiction writer once who remarked "If the human mind can conceive of it, it already exists somewhere."
I agree these beings already exist or will exist, we may be remembering our future😉
This is a freakin' amazing painting!!! Now get some sleep! And, I totally can relate to not knowing why people need to do drugs - because I, too, feel pretty crazy, happy and high on life most of the time - without anything. :)
I am freaken happy too! I'll sleep tonight .....I have another project I have to finish before the end of the month. An earthhouse and treehouse, I'm combining the two into one architectural design. Something I have never done before😁
Perfection !! at its best.
Thank you @blazing.
