My art has gone through various "phases" over the last 20 or so years. Not all at once, but back and forth as my mood changes.

Here is one of the oldest pieces still in my possession.

It was called, " Waiting" and even then I was waiting for the clock to turn. I have never lost my love of oil pastel. The expressive nature of the medium and the instant gratification it gives me. Lately I have been using it more to make my colored pencil work " Pop"

Where as ten years ago I would just throw down with the oil pastel. Using very little to no pencil or covering it completely.

In college I started making collages and assemblages. Over the years I developed a style of collage utilizing tissue paper and paint, and sometimes newspaper, amoung other things.

Here is another, older piece in my possession. An old friend.

Unfortunately that is the only finished painting I still have in that free flowing watercolor style. The rest were all given away. I have some similar old pieces I may finish soon just to remind me how I worked back then.

I do want to return to painting what I see as more than studies. I was playing around with this new medium in the last two years, " Open Acrylic"; an acrylic paint with a slightly different flow and longer drying time;and here are the only two finished pieces.

I would twirl the paint on the pallets, pick it up, and lay it gently on the canvas, instead of just painting directly on the canvas. I hope to get back to painting what is real, but what is real has changed for me so much in the last few years. My vision of the world view have changed dastically with the changing times. The rules of engagement have changed.

I am developing a new personal style to help me deal with these new realities. Influenced by Dada and Pop Surrealsm, and my own personal turmoil dealing with the " Science Fiction" of my youth that I now find myself living in. I am calling it " Batshit" right now, and my aim for this next week is to develope the style and work on these pieces I have already begun.

If anyone wants to join me in my journey this week and get weird, link me to some crazy art you have created recently.

Thank you for sharing your story. It's always good to survey where we've been...can be very affirming. Your work fascinates me. I enjoy the depth and the whimsical quality. "Batshit"...I LOVE THAT! I CAN RELATE!!! Keep up the excellent work! Upvoted and resteemed.

Thank you muchly! I have a fun week planned.

Oil pastels are eternal love. Great artwork !

Thank you. They are so much fun. I am working with paint more lately, but I will never stop with the oil pastels.

It would be a pity if you do. These work like magic in your hands

Another great work, pastels are clearly a strong medium of yours.

I'm not much of a painter, but I do like to photograph weirdness whenever I can find it. I'm trying to get the #weirdwednesday tag going as a creativity challenge and it'd be awesome if you'd submit something next week. Great idea, followed

Those are AMAZING!

Wow, your work is stunning.
