'The Artist's Thought'

This graffiti is on this wall of a neighbourhood busbar electric station for more than 25 years. I remember seeing it a long time ago. Interesting to notice that nobody destroyed it in such a long time. No young dumb came and spray painted a retarded signature over it for all those years. The wall already started falling apart, but the graffiti still stands. Kudos. Makes me happy.

Why is it interesting, otherwise? It depicts a self-portrait of the author and his future aspirations in a short writing saying: "Today. A transformer station in Gajnice. In 30 years, a badly bound monograph." Meaning that he is painting on the wall today but will have a "badly bounded" book of his works in 30 years. I cannot concur that the message is overall positive but it quite well describes a life of a struggling artist who believes in hard work. We also need to take into account that it was made during the socialist rule when one couldn't really do much.

I was waiting for the sun to create the play of light shadows for to take this one. They add much-needed atmosphere and bring the message a step further. Sombre look with a touch of happiness works with the man's thoughts. The same goes for my colour scheme. It works well, along with the rest.

I wonder what happened to that guy. No idea who he is or if he's still alive. I would like to see his "badly bounded monograph" today or anytime soon. Maybe he still has a few years to get that one done! Or not? In any case, we definitely wouldn't mind an update on the progress. The little busbar electric station has three more walls!
:D

Enjoy!

Original art is a very tough work. Only creative one can do this.

The National Treasure

muy buen post, te sigo.

Very high-quality work, which is worthy of attention. I think even after many years this wall will be badly damaged - it will remain graffiti. For 25 of its existence, no one has ever wanted to remove this picture, perhaps it is simply given little or little value. And maybe she looks beautiful and decorates this place. Given its age, it is a local historical landmark.
The whole limit of art is that you do not know what is happening now with this person, and his work still lives. This is his small footprint.
The sun definitely changes the atmosphere. If you include the imagination, then the shadows on the face of this painted person look like something that limits freedom. (restriction of freedom in those socialist times). But despite this - this man is smiling, he is free in thought and no one can limit his thoughts. It's a way of self-expression.
Thank you:)

I love a good quality streetart because here in Amsterdam i grow up in the graffiti culture...
You are right it is great to see that no foolish person took a spaycan and crossed it in all these years. I think it maybe has to do with respect for the artist.

Love your blog!

Kind regards

I have always wondered what made all these graffiti artists take out so much time to paint on a public place with no regards for monetary gain. I guess it is pure love for the art. This one has superb attention to details. Did you say more than 25 years? The art still looks very much alive and new.

what a great (maybe crude, but great) message, hard work is all we have when we want to reach our goals. Great photo! i really like a lot your work.

When an Artist paints with passionate love in his heart, it is felt viscerally by the viewer, and who would dare destroy such a beautiful masterpiece?? ... Great capture and well inked :)

Love this post man. I've been going through some of your posts, and love the style of your blog. My father loved photography, so I grew up learning all about cameras, and those early days still impact my artistic life.
Keep posting the great stuff man!

The man from your photo is alive and well, his name is Miron Milić, and he is very active as an artist in Croatia. I know this man personally, because his atelier is in the same place in Zagreb where my circus training gym is, and that is Autonomous Culture Center Medika. The mural was made in 2012, and here's an article backing it up:

Hope this helps. :)

Ugodan dan vam želim!

Love the way you depict things. It just melows down ones thought process. Nobody destroyed it till this time because it is destined to be there, to stand tall. I guess it is somebody's honest work and God is with it.

Nobody ever sprayed over it? In these days that’s amazing, sad but amazing.

His expression is what catches my eye. His smile says a lot. I feel strongly that he wanted to show the world that he is smiling in spite of his circumstances.

that's great, I guess the other graffiti artists had to respect that. A good mural is one of the best ways to prevent graffiti.

"True art by unstoppable passion in a creative artist" Albert Einstein said. People who are very fortunate are born with an artistic talent talent, others must learn to become fluent in the language of art. Wherever your song is, know everyone is an artist-some people who have their creative desires flow more than the rest. Follow these steps to begin your own artistic journey.

You really are taking great pictures, and you know how to adjust them in the program

excellent your art I congratulate you very good work

I think this graffiti is very attached to the value of art in it. if the art is good as long as it will look good even though it is consumed by time.

Nice Photography!

Even some gangster youths cherish original Art works, i guess that is why it remained intact...
