In an effort to slowly improve my skills, I’m making good on my word and I’m putting in the practice to get better at drawing thumbnails.
Right now I’m sitting at home, feeling pretty damn good about myself. I got to spend some quality time with the sweetheart and I was productive. We went on a lunch date before picking up the little one and then we spent our evening working on our own individual projects. I’m surprised I got anything done since my mind has been wandering a lot lately. It could be because my sleep schedule has been pretty fucked since my return home. I don’t wake up until late morning/early afternoon and I’m up until 3-4AM. Somehow, I need to reset myself so I can rise early and turn in around midnight.
We’re also trying to get on a set family schedule. Weekdays will be spent at our beloved @caffetto. I’ll return home early with the munchkin so he can get enough rest for school and @kommienezuspadt will stay behind to edit or draw. If it all goes according to plan then we can spend our weekends goofing off with one another. I’m sure @guthrie would be fine hearing that we can snuggle on the couch all day, giving him limitless amounts of undivided attention.

I’m going to admit that I postponed my thumbnail practice because I hated drawing the squares. 😆

I also tried my hardest to draw them all simply and get each one done in a reasonable amount of time.

On the Procreate App, I’m using a mix of Oil Paint, Acrylic, P4 Pencil and Round Brush.

Compared to the first image with the landscapes, I think I did a better job with my the interior sketches. Which one do you prefer?
Surprisingly to myself I like the interior more. :)
Thanks! My goodness, that makes me feel better because I feel like I struggle with buildings!
These are great thumbnails, foxxie :D. My favourite is the land with the snaking water in between, but maybe that's because I have a soft spot when it comes to water.
Your interior sketches look like they belong as panels in a comic ^^.

This is SO cool!
i think you did well both for the outdoors and interior thumbnails, foxi! Love the curving corridor with the cleaved windows onto the curving ceiling <3 but all of these are very nice....
....
i wanna make some too now aaaaaaa
foxi is so inspiring XD
<3
Keep it up! ^^
Try practicing with simple perspective lines even if it's thumbnails. Personally I find rectangles more natural to draw in and to look at :D
I like the very last sketch of a door as you can feel space in it- light foreground, the foreshortened door and then a darker background behind.
I found you🤗 You're post is great!
I like your thumbnails XD And I completely can't tell if they're overworked or not XP
I don't do thumbnails. There is no reasoning or logic behind why I don't, I just don't XD The closest I've come is scribbling on storyboard rectangles but I haven't done that for a while either and it's highly likely that when I actually have to do it I'll cheat and use keyframe quick renders.
I actually use thumbnails sort of when I am working on a larger digital oil, something I couldn't really do when painting real oils. I'll pick out a section of the digital oil after laying down a few layers of base colours and blocks of colour and then make a layer that is a drawn thumbnail around the bit I am going to work on. Then I can really go in and work on detail and such. This also makes it easier for me to share bits of my larger oils now that I like to do as I am sharing a piece over a few posts and weeks.
I like how you are trying out these sections like this. I do that somewhat too when trying out environments to set a painting in.
Good job combining family and work time together. It is an art in and of itself.
