RE: Can music heal you?

in #art6 years ago (edited)

I'm pretty sure this is a rhetoric question and I will answer it with a huge YES

Did you and your sister grow up at your grandparents/ grandmother's house?

I mainly learnt to love music thanks to my dad and his record / vinyl collection and later ( from 1991 onwards ) CD collection. I was born in 1981 and got a radio cassette player on my 12th birthday and a CD player at my 14th bday. The cassette player and listening to radio and maxing mix tapes with my favorite songs hugely influenced me too, for that reason 1990s Euro dance song are still my guilty pleasure.

I used to love Radiohead too ( saw them live thrice in the late 90s early 2000s ) and now only my dad's record collection as he decided to part with it. He only uses CD's now and I'm old fashioned haha

One of my favorite bands in the last couple of years is Future Islands but I can listen to anything from classical music to dance, from pop to jazz and so on. Unless it's too noisy. My hardrock years are behind me.

P.S. @joseacabrerav @trovadormusica - I would love to hear your replies to this post ;<)

From the age of ten we lived at our grandmother's. Cassetes are awesome! I have a bit of nostalgia and I love vintage kind of things connected to music. I would love to have a patephone and a full place filled with stuff to play. Sometimes I enjoy some hardrock, but with the passing of time I noticed I prefer silence and tranquility more. I will take a look and give a feedback 😊

I see...

I miss my grandparents. My last grandmother passed away, early 2018, aged 94, the other in 2007. My granddad's way earlier, in 94 and 96.

What's that? You mean a record player? or is it some kind of mysterious machine that I've never heard of? :<)

Same here, silence and tranquility, although I admit that I listen to quite a lot of 90s euro dance ( as I mentioned in the above comment ) but mainly to get energized / do some funny dancing ( while cooking, for instance ).

This kind of thing. And I would love to have a bunch of records just so that if one night I feel like listening to some music... I could put this to play and enjoy it. I have a vintage soul lol🙈

Ah awesome, I have seen these machines play in old movies :<)

And I could have guessed you had a vintage soul.

Me too, as my name starts with VIN ;<)

Yeah, old movies😍

I have seen it, they will do a concert on discord from what I have understood and have a competition. A photo and a story of the place where you feel the most comfortable to create. Hm... Easy. My couch. Or at work when I feel like drawing... I sit on my very comfy hairdresser chair. I can pretty much sit anywhere to create as long as I have the right mood. What I really reallly reaaaaaly dream and want would be to be able to paint one day outside in the yard of my own countryside wood house. I think my creativity would rise at least duble. Until then, my imagination sits on the couch. Literally😁🛋️😋
