If you once loved Pokémon, Tamagotchi’s or any other game alike them, then Axie Infinity should be right up your alley. Strongly inspired by these two games, Axie Infinity is a digital pet community with a universe that aims to build a world of mythical creatures called “Axie’s” that you can breed, collect, raise and train. Also, you can make a team of Axies to battle in the arena; buy, sell, and trade Axies with others on the marketplace.
Axie is a growing community and I'm sure you will not want to be left out. In this article, we’ll go through some steps on how to get started.
Step 1: Try it for free:
Now you might as well try out the tutorial and see if the game along with its art and gameplay appeal to you. You sure should do this before making any economics decisions which is a problem with some Blockchain games that requires monetary commitment up front before players are even sure if they liked the game and intend to keep playing it.
Step 2: Choose your wallet:
If you tried out the game and find it interesting and intend to keep playing it (And I’m sure you will) then you are ready to choose your DApp-compatible wallet and send ETH to them. You can choose Metamask if you’re playing on desktop or choose one of the three available wallets to play on mobile devices - Coinbase is the most recommended among the others. You may want to join Discord to learn more about this stage if you’re having a hard time.
Step 3: Adopt your Axies and start a collection:
Now that you have your wallet and ETH, you can finally adopt you Axies. You can do this by going to the Marketplace where you can buy them from other players or you can check the Axie Lab to see if it is currently selling Axie Eggs. You might want to do some research before making a decision to buy your Axies, so you should go to their FAQ or read the Collector Guide.
Step 4: Going to the Lab and Start Battling:
Once you have completed all the steps above and now have some Axies of your own, you’ll be able to battle for EXP points and glory. You just need to go to the Lobby and create your team. Axies battles in 3 vs 3 against each other. Before the battles you can arrange the formation of the team in a 3 x 3 battlefield, considering each Axie’s strengths and weaknesses to make a good strategy to win.

As someone that really enjoys Axies, but only got started playing in November, so it is really cool to see what the original unboxing was like so thank you for documenting it xD I have a decent collection but I really want to get a Mystic! Were all Axies Mystic at a certain presale point, or was it just % roll? I am working and watching with no sound during a conference call lol Even if they all were Mystics then (omg would be so awesome if everyone was single mystic minimum with chances at double, triple etc), paying .3 ETH when Ether was worth around 350-400 bucks is a lot of cash, especially with no precedent for a dapp ever being as cool as Axie Infinity! I will sell some axies + invest a little and buy a Mystic soon, but IDK if I will ever get a double Mystic before the game gets huge, but I can hope! Even if I do, the excitement of being able to roll a Mystic or double Mystic would be awesome, even if they have higher ID #s and they make it harder to get, it would be cool if they did another chance to get Mystics even if they were worth less (sort of like MEO vs MEO2).
