Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Pool 1 accounts voted
We first posted our distribution chart four weeks ago. There are a number of inactives in Pool 1 , or it would actually be 500. We are moving inactive members down into Pool 2 after 30 days of inactivity. The actual number of votes is much higher!

Self-votes are up because there was a rise in inactive numbers. We developed a new approach this week to better deal with the unspent voting power from inactive members. Instead of self-voting with the extra voting power in each pool, it will be divided evenly across the members. This provides a little boost to all members in each pool.

It has been even more difficult to manage the voting power in the lower pools, but we expect to see the percentage decrease over the next week. We just reached 500 members in pool 2, so as more of the inactive members drop down into pool 3, the number of Votees will increase as well.

The voting weight that went to @steembasicincome is high due to the number of inactive members between 60 and 90 days. Inactives past 90 days are moved down into pool 4. We have launched pool 4, even with the low number of shares in pool 3, so that hyperactive members can still receive a fair upvote without depleting the voting weight that should go to other members.

When we fully automate, we will have an even better solution for managing our voting weight.
Delegation Bonus Shares
Existing members can receive bonus shares by delegation. For every 20 SP delegated to @steembasicincome, members will receive 1 bonus share. Any Steemian that is already enrolled in @steembasicincome can delegate as much as they would like, to receive bonus shares.

Growing everyday, this is such a great program. I think someone signed me up for a share, but I don't know who it is to thank them. Is there a way to find out who signed me up for shares after my initial share? Just wondering. I love SBI.

So I sponsored three people a couple of days ago and three more today. The upvotes came from the @sbi3 account, which has considerably less VP than the @steembasicincome account does. Will the @sbi3 (2, 4, etc.) accounts increase in VP aswell, to make it a stable division between all of them? Also, the steem I pay for sponsoring people, will that go to the account the upvotes come from (sbi3 in this case), or will it go to the base account?
We maintain SP balances in each pool (primarily through delegation) to a target multiple of the share count. In effect that is a stable division between all of them.
The STEEM all goes into the base account, but it is used for the delegation orders to keep all accounts in line with their SP targets.

You have to sponsor somebody, and if you don't we assign the second share to an existing member that has only 1. It looks like you guys figured out a good solution, though.

It takes them a couple of days to send out the notices after you sign up.

OK so I have monitored this for a while and unless I am missing something it will take years to get the initial 1 STEEM back and then if you are still running the service there will be profit after that?

That brings your total upvotes from the week to about $0.15, which is a little higher than I would expect (if you were being over-rewarded in pool 1, that would explain why you were moved into pool 3).
The upvote weight for each post is driven by your weekly posting frequency (checked against weekly average from last 28-days to protect against abuse). Pool 3 is growing quickly and the voting power occasionally lags as we wait for delegation orders to be filled. You should see your weekly upvotes stabilize between $0.05 and $0.10 (actual USD, not value shown on Steemit) if STEEM price holds steady without slumping further. That's about 25 to 50 weeks to get the initial 1 STEEM back (not years).

That's not a bad investment then as the person I sponsored is also receiving a similar amount so the net effect is half of the 25 to 50 weeks really if you take into account both accounts.

You're welcome. I put a lot of thought into the design, and I try really hard to make sure that everything is operating as planned, even with it still not fully automated yet.

It's human nature for one to be sceptical at first but I can see that you seem to have all the right motivations.
I think it would be good if you had a tool to show how much was invested and how much paid out for a specific user so people can not only see what they have earned but you can use some of the older member's data to show that they really do get a basic income after the initial payback period.
