Cheapest Way to get to Boracay Island Philippines

Welcome to Boracay Steemians :)

Boracay beach is one of the most beautiful beach in the world.

SINCE we start traveling last year we always think about going back to Boracay. We ended up going to Puerto Galera Sabang beach and White Beach for almost a month.

Going to Boracay is a bit rough with small budget. As we all know Boracay has one of the highest tourist prices in the Philippines. The accommodation and restaurants prices are much higher than most areas of the Philippines. So we decided to save money and try some alternative places first.

The cheapest city we've seen on Agoda are Angeles City and Subic. Staying in Angeles City is nice but not a lot of things to do besides nightlife. There's only a few places to walk away from the traffic and polution. One thing that is interesting in Angeles is the nightlife which is not the type we want.

We booked the flight to Boracay 3 weeks ahead trying to get the cheaper flight.

After two weeks in Angeles we think of going to Subic Bay for a week. We thought Subic might have a good beach like Boracay or White Beach. The beach is okay we ended do walking but not swimming. We look forward to the Boracay beaches.

We went back to Angeles for a couple days waiting for our flight. We stayed in Swiss Chalet for 1500 pesos ($31) per night. The room is excellent. The WiFi is slow but not as bad as Royal Amsterdam. I like the room is nice but not as good as Score Birds hotel. The room is almost similar with the big mirror but the tables and big cabinet are perfect size. This hotel is also cheaper but you don't have pool view. However, Swiss Chalet has a very nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. They are usually crowded for dinner for the full menu which is the exciting part of the restaurant. The restaurant has the maximum choices of dishes during dinner. The menu looks like a book and I need to read every pages before I order so it takes a long time for me. The food prices is a bit high but you get what you pay for. Housekeeping service is very poor. We left the door sign for 2 days and no housekeeping came to clean the room. I do highly recommend Swiss Chalet if you are looking for a decent room with a good price.

Finally on our way to paradise :)

Arriving in Boracay

The plane flight was fast only about an hour and a half. However once we arrived in Boracay they are building a new Airport so it was different than the last time we were here. We landed near the new Airport then they put us on a bus and drove 15 minutes through the town back to the old airport.
Once we got to the old airport everything went very fast. Our bags are coming around the conveyor belt as we walked in the door. We ran over and grabed them off before they went back around. After grabbing are bags we walked out and they were offering the Vans shuttle service for about 500 to 600 pesos per person.

The van cost 600 per person going to the port includes terminal fee, environmental fee, boat ticket and van from the port going to your hotel. I think less hectic because you have a driver that will guide you but I don't recommend its too much.

Our plan: We walked over to the taxi stand after we walked out of baggage claim. We paid 100 pesos for the tricycle ride and the ferry boat to Bocaray Island. The boat ticket was 25 pesos per person and tricycle taxi fare 50 pesos for one way ride going to the port. Once you get there go to the right windows the terminal fee is 100 pesos per person and environmental fee is 75 pesos per person. After security they have us write our name on the tourist manifest Filipina or a foreigner as long as your not from Boracay. Follow the path going to the boat. Once we took the ferry ride over. It was Sunday so the ferry was only half full but all of the ferries coming from Boracay going to the airport are very full. We passed the Vans after the ferry and got another tricycle which was 120 pesos one way ride to our hotel. It took 15 mins only.

Overall we paid 570 pesos for 2 person to get the hotel instead of about 1000 pesos for two people. Everything went so well we arrived at the hotel 3 hours early.

Early morning flights are difficult for a couple reasons; First, getting out at the crazy hour. One of our alarms did not go off so if we missed it we would have missed our taxi and then late for the flight. Second, once you arrived very early the hotel room is not available. We arrived in Boracay at 10am but could not get into a room until 2PM. So we walked around the beach in City clothes with shoes on while everybody was in beach clothes and flipflops. Very hot.

Now I'm not complaining at all I'm happy to get the flights, happy to be in Boracay. We are sitting at Nigi Nigi Nu Noos having breakfast with fresh brewed coffee and beautiful scenery makes me forget how I felt in the morning when I first woke up. We remember this restaurants from before and they have a good food.
We ordered some kind of Omelets and fresh orange juice. The food was good but a little bit oily or maybe it was a sauce. The view from the restaurant is amazing. This is one of our favorite restaurant. After sitting for like an hour we walked back to check our room and to have some rest. Carrying my bags makes me feel like I need massage.
