Have you ever strolled through a graveyard? I find them to be very peaceful. All those lives lived and souls at rest.
I was at this one fairly early in the day, which gave me the opportunity to do some shots with nice illumination and contrast.
Some of the graves were quite old.
And bizarrely, one little grave site stood all alone at the far end of the graveyard. One person has and end date, but the other has evidently not yet gone to rest.

You know how I feel about cemeteries. Much the same as you. There is a hush that comes over the entire place when I step inside its gates.
There are signs of recent visitation, especially at Arlington, which is one of the closest to me. While many people find it ghoulish, I have never felt that way about them.

Thank you so much, @dswigle! Yes, we do have that in common! They are places of quiet reflection for me. I feel the past is there, but sleeping a long and quiet rest, all the problems of the world set aside and no longer relevant. And that is a welcome thing right now!

Oh that is a very interesting idea. I have seen my maiden name before, but not my married name, which is odd because I think the latter is probably more common! Thanks for your visit, @rynow.
I also find it peaceful but fascinating at the same time walking through a graveyard; wondering about the people who once were a part of life here on earth and have now moved on. Sad also to see the graves of young children with signs of regular visits by loved ones with fresh and sometimes wilted flowers years after their deaths.
The graveyard in your photos looks so peaceful; sadly here in our country many of the municipalites who are responsible for maintenance have neglected to do this and then it's just the individual graves that are still being looked after by family!
I knew I couldn't be the only one who finds them peaceful! That is too bad about the neglect of the cemeteries there. Do you think it will change once the pandemic has passed?
I know some people say this kind of place good jogging because it's less human traffic but sorry, not my kind of place. 😎
I do understand that! I'm sure I would only enjoy walking through in the beautiful sunlight, when it's bright and cheerful and I can see all around me. :-)
