I think it will eventually. If you can get everyone else to stop I might consider stopping after I hit like 1 million Steem Power.
If you need to eat then use bots and make more money.
Steem will cease to exist as a usable blockchain way before you will hit "1 million Steem Power" and even if some how it will still exist, expect it to be worth only a little more than what you have now is worth now, if it will still exist when you reach 1 million, and if you will ever reach 1 million.
Personally, I prefer that a competitor of Steem will be created, where every new user will start from some equal stake, and it should have a mechanism to validate uniqueness of identity and a mechanism tat costs to create as many profiles as wanted, as is now.
You can not earn much, because most of those bigger than you now, will remain bigger even if they will sell a substantial portion of their stake, so how rich can you get?

I guess EOS may launch a competitor but I think Steemit has a very good chance at coming out on top.

I don't & have never used a bot.
I don't use banks because they aren't worth the bread they eat, I feel the same way about bots on here, I'm not paying retail to anyone who ain't worth the bread they eat.
I do not use bots but I notice that my blog gets more or less 50% bot votes ... but in the long run, exposure is key for me.
Autovoting is the only for me to keep up with everybody i want to follow.
