Visa stops servicing Europe's crypto-currency cards

in #bitcoin6 years ago

European holders of crypto-currency cards found that now their plastic is useless. The Wavecrest visa branch is accused of denial of service, which affects dozens of issuers of crypto-currency cards, including Bitwala, Tenx, Bitpay and Xapo.

Visa vetoes
Debit cards, which have become extremely popular in the crypto currency community, provide payment for goods and services using crypto currency. Maps are a means of bridging the gap between the worlds of fiat and crypto, allowing users to use crypto currency instead of fiat money.

The reasons for Visa to introduce the veto are not entirely clear, although the company has long been dislike of bitcoin and the fact that bitcoin threatens to violate the status quo of Visa. Visa stated that the card service was suspended due to "continuing non-compliance with our rules of operation" and insists that this step is not part of the target campaign against the Crypto currency.

Web users who value their financial freedom have long been wary of Visa.
Whatever the reason for the ban, the situation clearly illustrates what bitcoiners have known for many years: too much centralization is a dangerous thing
