One of the downsides to Proof-of-Work blockchains. The most censorship resistant and secure payment systems don't come cheap. I think most day to day transactions will happen over Delegated Proof-of-Stake systems like STEEM/BitShares, and high priority large value transfers will be moved over bitcoin. Like a Wire Transfer Vs. Debit Card.

That is the only solution I see right now, and probably the only solution we see for the near future. When will it change? Who knows.
Layer 2 solutions might be available in 2-3yrs, maybe. I'm just waiting for Coinbase to add STEEM someday. Direct on/off ramp to fiat and no transaction fees on STEEM. No need for most average people to touch BTC at that point.
The day they do that, their site would go down for 24-48 hours because of all the massive adoption from the public lol I can deal with that though.
