Something I don't often do - blogging

in #blog6 years ago

Hey everyone, it's been 2 weeks into the new year already and I decided to start doing more of something that I normally don't do much which is blogging. Even though I'm not the best content creator I've been trying to put a lot of time down to create content, not only cause the recent spike in SBD which has caused a lot of other authors to post a lot as well, but also because there is an insane amount of newcomers joining the platform and it's good to remain active during times like these.

The SBD spike has been nice for content creators anyway, to me personally it has been a great opportunity to increase the amount of SP I own and it saddens me to often see people just dump the SBD and never power anything up - I feel it shows a way of ungratefulness towards the platform and that they may not believe in it's future. It's not like they are cashing it out to pay taxes anyway - it's probably going towards other currencies which I don't really get personally. Ever since the first spike I've been buying Steem with it cause it seemed obvious to me that Steem was the next one to blow up even though it was lagging behind compared to the other currencies - and it did. So the SBD spike made it possible for me to not only profit from that but also profit from the Steem spike up right after, but that doesn't matter to me much right now how much I profit as my main goal is to increase my SP so I can use it for good in the future of the platform and to spread the distribution as wide as possible and I really respect many others on the platform who do the same.

Some users may see my recent posting activity and call it greedy or spammy, but not many others out there are putting in as much time into the platform and value back into Steem as I am. At least according to statistics that I've been looking through, anyway... Steem had an awesome start into the new year, it was almost unbelievable. Then again for many who saw it coming and are aware that Steem may be lagging behind a bit like it usually does on uptrends of most altcoins it was expected even though maybe not all the way up to $8.

I still have a lot of plans for the platform in the works and currently been over 5 days without smoking to try and clear my mind and become more active and increase the pace to work on these projects I have unfinished. There are also some changes coming to both @ocd and @ocd-witness soon. A lot of things to do, it feels like the more people join and the higher the price of Steem gets the more stressful it becomes, even curating. That is to be expected though in a way and I'm hoping to be able to get back to it fully ASAP. While I'm trying to stay away from smoking I've been mainly focusing on gaming lately to keep my mind at one thing and one thing alone. It's been working pretty well so far so I hope my cravings will go away soon even though I am aware they won't be going away fully for a long time.

This year I think will be very interesting in the crypto markets, I think many coins that barely have any usage or potential have been mooning hard due to the big amount of newcomers and new money flowing into cryptos this year and I expect many corrections to come. People have been gambling with coins a lot and the mainstream adoption has increased that number by a huge factor. The top 50-100 will change quite a lot in the coming months and with the mainstream adoption there will be a big amount of new ICO's and projects popping up that will have huge potentials with serious teams and they will be making their ways into the top as well. With bigger amount of users in the blockchain space lately it also means that prices and positions will be able to change drastically quickly.

It will be an exciting year and I can't wait for all the new stuff that lay ahead for Steem with SMT's and communities.

If periods, where STEEM is at an ATH and SBDs are unreasonably high, is not the time for people who have been with the blockchain through its up and downs and persistently worked for its value to profit from their work, then when?

Good for you man.

Hmmm...I dunno, you write well so I'd say you're a solid content creator dude. I'm doing similar to you, albeit on a smaller scale. Stacking SBD -> Steem while I can get more Steem for SBD. Making a big bet on the platform in 2018 as I think it's something special and one of the few blockchain projects with massive current adoption.

Keep writing!

P.S. Congrats on 5 days no smoking, that's huge.

~ Kevin

One of the things that Steemit/Steem has going for it is a working platform with thousands of users. Other coins can't claim that.

I just bought way more Steem than I should have yesterday. The drop in value stings a bit, but I'm on here so much I have to remember that I'm on here for the long haul.

Hopefully Steemit will gain traction and by then I'll be as famous as @grumpycat

Keep writing and Sharing is good

Why be surprised when people dump SDB on the run-up? One never knows if a spike is a pump-n-dump or if it's legit. If it is a legitimate upward move, people will eventually convert to SteemPower after a tasty little profit.

You write fairly well for not being a good content creator;) I agree that a lot of new currencies today have weak usecases, but I believe that the huge amount of altcoins helps prevent too much stress on any single currency (unless they're Ethereum based), which, thanks to a better user experience, can give much better publicity for the crypto market.

I'm relatively new to Steem and am still learning my way around here, but you get it. By helping others, you help yourself.

I think Steem has the potential to go up 50-100x if the community plays its cards right. Even at that lofty valuation, Steem would still be worth only a fraction of what Facebook is worth today.

Regarding cryptos in general, I think that the crypto space will trigger an enormous amount of creativity in the coming years and we're just scratching the surface of what we'll see. Significant talent is moving into crypto and we're in the early innings of the money flowing in as well.

There's not any shame in increasing your posting rate and more if you are invested in steemit which you are! I've managed to get some Sbd from my latest posts and contests and had invested some in powering up which is great because now my vote makes a difference in my country, I also invested a bit in Eos but bottom line is I'm all in with steemit, I've been doing some charity too and I'm gonna open up a steemit academy (soon will be asking for delegation) cause the idea is to grow our community. Nice to see you posting, Cheers!

Hi Jon =]
Here the same I also invested a little bit in power up and EOS , and same as in your country , here in brazil the rewards worth a lot of local cash (BRL), one with a blog and $10 daily rewards can make more money that most people earn in their regular jobs. Steemit can really be a change life 'event' to people in our countries.
see you at tables tonight hehe =p

See you at the tables bro! Lets grow up our communities!

Thanks for being honest with your thoughts regarding keeping the money in the platform and with your battle with smoking. I hope you're able to knock the habit so you can be as efficient as possible because you have a lot to contribute here. Regarding taking out steem from the platform, I have to be honest that I've taken out a bit but upon doing so have you decided that to be a good example it's best that I put quality content up on the regular to hopefully inspire future Steemiens to do the same. Can't wait to read more of your stuff, keep it up!

It will be an exciting year and I can't wait for all the new stuff that lay ahead for Steem with SMT's and communities.

I'm also anticipating too... I hope to see alot of changes this year. Cryptocurrencies are at their best and steem is no different.

No smoking woooo! Focus on those games!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You are crushing it dude. 5 days is a long time to go without a smoke, another week or two and it will probably start to feel normal. Did you replace it with any other habits, like making tea or chewing gum or whatever?

also -

it saddens me to often see people just dump the SBD and never power anything up - I feel it shows a way of ungratefulness towards the platform and that they may not believe in it's future.

I don't know if this is totally fair, I mean by default 50% of all money is powered up. It makes total sense for some people to power down, for example to pay off debts or even just to buy time. I use Steem to pay my rent and it enables me to spend twice as much time here as if I was working a part time job on the side.

I think each person has their own way to contribute - for some it is financial, but really it's unique to each person.

I was merely thinking of the top earners with that comment who both are constantly powered down and earn a lot of SBD. Topping it off with never responding to comments and posting 4-8 times per day with most votes being from autovotes like steemvoter. That's what saddens me.

and yeah I'm chewing nicotine gum and hopefully replacing it with normal gum soon.

I'm glad you clarified that one! Like @heymattsokol, I was wondering the same thing...it's pretty cool that he can pay his rent from this so therefore devote more time to bettering things here! I don't need to take any out and so I have continued to power up, but I totally get what you're referring to about "the top earners...". And, a big congratulations on your 5 smoke-free days! I quit years ago and still remember the yearning :) Keep at it though, it's worth it. I chewed gum for years:)

top earners also have a big social following too. they always share what they did in here and get an instant view of thousands. everybody should do it!

Oh yea now I see what you are saying. Those kinds of users are not good for Steemit, I agree

You should be proud of yourself, a lot of people cant go a day without jumping back to smoking its a addictive so keep up the good work. Now about this post. love it! your right on point when you say this will be a interesting year. I just posted today about people and this whole fomo (fear of missing out) trend with crypto newbies. although I do have to say I'm like yes come on because they are buying all these random coins lowering the prices on the good ones and allows me to buy the dip! def. gonna follow you. checkout my post if you get a chance and comment your thoughts.

Congratulations on your 5th day without smoking! I know how hard it is.
The SBD spike was a huge thing I think, made a lot of inactive steemians come back, numerous new accounts too..I hope then all stay and don't just withdraw what they earned.....I'm feeling a little bad for selling ~300usd in sbd/steem days ago , I should have all powered up ... now I'm trying to lease 550 SP to be able to split my votes ehehe..anyway, I was doing a little of everything with my rewards...but now I'm getting that if my plan is stay here in the long term, the best thing is power up as much as I can. Now SBD and STEEM prices are almost at same value, do you think when STEEM pass SBD price we will never see SBD higher then STEEM again?

Blog away man!

This is the sort of stuff I enjoy, especially when I've followed that person for a while and see they are pro Steem.

With regards to little powering up:

I feel it shows a way of ungratefulness towards the platform and that they may not believe in it's future.

For sure. People got bills to pay, and I've taken some out for essentials, but to not power up at all - not sure what the deal is there!

Cheers!

Everything that's going on with all the cryptos is insane! We will definitely see a lot of action in the upcoming months. And I think you shouldn't care about the users who say you're greedy or spammy. I mean, you're doing so much for this platform, they are simply ungrateful individuals who only want some sort of gain for themselves.
And by the way, nice seeing you 5 days free of smoking!

It is interesting I think that when people look at the payouts, they can only see what happens in their eyesight. for example, many even now do not follow ocd and see your votes cast through hundreds of unique people weekly. They don't realise that a large portion of what you get either stays in the system or goes out for a little while to buy even more Steem later.

Things are going to change a lot over the coming months here and there are going to be some very disappointed people I think who realise the opportunity they have wasted to get 'free' Steem. I just noiced that in the internal market, it is almost 1:1 again. I powered up a lot of Steem, I wish I had powered up a little more. I am still hoping for some spikes and fallbacks but I am unsure if I will get lucky enough now.

Anyway - don't smoke.

glad you're blogging. gives some of us newbies a chance to get to know you. My aim is to be as successful on steemit as you. you're quite a benchmark one could say. LOL. Cheers!

You should do it more often! Good luck for stopping smoke. All the best.

Alright you got me, I’ll power up that liquid steem!

I didn’t expect the prices to remain as high as they have so I spread it around a little to try to hedge my bets but man, I don’t know how traders do it. I’m checking my ‘portfolio’ constantly. I liked it more when I was all in on steem.

You just gotta stop checking the $ value, in the end that won't matter.

Pls upvote kind sir

Hi - nice update, but don't worry about posting so much.... those of us that have done a little digging around know who the people are constantly beavering away in the background and are thus worthy of rewarding (whatever little that's worth on my part!)

I'm inclined to agree that it's been a great time to power up recently, as I've been doing. Not so much now: that 1:1 ratio is not appealing! So guess I'm stuck with a few SBD until the conversion rate improves.

Belated happy new year and good luck staying off the smoking.

Spike in SBD really helps me to power up .. i got 14 steem in 1 Sbd ...i think that time was very lucky.....& best of luck for @ocd project

thank's for upload this post very helpful to me

Thanks for the great post. Sacrificing smoking for steemit is huge.

Absolutely correct, I did a mistake in my earlier posts by not choosing a 50-50 ratio between SP and SBD and went 100% on SP which gave me less SP initially. But I am trying to use this opportunity to increase my SP. I am just hoping the price of SBD stays the same way or spike up again which will be very beneficial for content creators.

I’m also trying to get as much SP as possible so I can give back to the community one day. Thanks for the great post!

I agree STEEMIT IS GREAT. First social media platform on blockchain and has potential to grow further. Best thing about steemit is by helping each other we help the stem ecosystem.

Great job..Thanks for the share..

Great job staying away from smoking.

Good shiz on the blog blog. Power up 100-all day. Just saw cheakys csgo video, I'm getting in on that next time.

I believe that STEEM can be a big winner this year, since solves real problems in the world, not mentioning speed and no cost regarding transactions. On the other hand there are coins that are scams and only exist to make founders wealthy. Yes, it is going to be exiting year.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think the primary reason that Steem has an edge on other alt coins is that we are directly involved in creating its destiny as content creators. This is different than gambling which is how most people seem to be treating crypto - its hard work that will increasingly pay off!

@acidyo Agreed, this is going to be a huge year for Steem. It is always a good decision to invest in Steem and power up, this platform has a bright future ahead and a great potential whether one believes in it or not.

I'd be glad to read more from you frequently, especially concernign SBD and Steem.

althoug your posts are at the level always
you are right , many people post a lot because of SBD increase
but there many authore still posting great & useful topics
There are many coins pumped this year without any reason
but i believe that in the future only great project & solid project will survive like steem
@acidyo steemit to the moon

Good blog post!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes It will be an exciting year and I can't wait for all the new stuff that lay ahead for Steem with SMT's and communities.
I’m realy proud of you just like All steemiens you are non-smoker!
Resteemed!

Good content. Thank you keep up!!

Well I'm cashing out those SBD so I can pay the bills. It's awesome to be able to make money from blogging Steemit art. But yeah, I do wish I had some more SP.

I am trying to Increase my SBD.
WHAT is the fastest way ?

Hehe, just get lots of good votes on your posts ;)

You write very well! keep the hard work going!

but since I started to join steemit I'm excited and would love to try to do blogging...

I hope new year will bring us good fortune and will bring this community wealth!

Congratulations on going so long without smoking, the first few days are the toughest so if you have a moment of weakness remember that you have already been through the hardest part.
