How to deal with bullying at the workplace

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemians!

Many think it's just children or teenagers. It happens only in school, with friends or on the Internet. But this is not the case. Bullying also happens frequently in the workplace.

It does not necessarily have to be conspicuous, for example through insults or physical violence.
Alone exposures in front of the boss, constant malicious remarks or the like are enough to get you down.

Since many people don't talk about it out of shame or fear of being a sissy, I would like to recommend a few tips to you today.

#1: Try to talk to the bully.

Maybe the person isn't even aware of how much he hurts you with his behavior. You could ask her if she likes the way she treats you. It could also be very embarrassing for the person if you speak directly to them.

#2: Talk with colleagues.

If you have one or more colleagues with whom you get along well, you can also confide in them. It's always important to talk to people about problems you trust.

#3: Talk to the boss.

Your boss is responsible for a good working atmosphere. So if you talk to him, he should take your problem seriously and make it clear to the mobber that his behaviour will have serious consequences if he doesn't change.
However, if the bully is your boss, I would inform myself if there is someone else above him.

#4: Think about quitting.

This should really be your last step when the previous ones haven't worked and bullying doesn't stop. You don't need to think you're weak just because you're taking that step.

And most importantly, be aware that no one can treat you like this- whether he's a superior or not. Get help if you think you can't do it alone and stay strong!
