About a month ago , I read an article on how an artifical intelligence(AI) won GoMaster Champion. Quite amazed by how powerful computers are getting i did a little research. Then another news hit me when i read that an AI a.k.a Lengpudashi has beaten a team of six poker players after a series of matches in China. Still i thought its all permutation and combination and mathematics, so that could be the reason.
Today morning , I woke to find out that the best DOTA players in the world have been dedeated by AI bots. I thought to myself- is the judgement day near-"Terminator 2 - theme sound ringing in the head".
Computers and bots are brain child of humans. We created them. They have aided in things which would be impossible in many ways. I first read about how computer aided robotics were used to inspect Chernobyl. Then about deep sea adventures. Then the Mars rovers. The list is endless.
In real life when our own creations start outmastering us- many of us feel proud of it. Like how a teacher feels happy of his student or when a trainee beats the trainer -the hapiness is endless. The purpose here is not to only beat the exisiting best but to be better. This is a continous process and that is how evolution and adaptation has come about.
Survival of the fittest as it is commonly said.
But the problem is machines may not fit in for the same analogy.
What if the machines assumes a role and sole purpose of only beating humans but not for betterment?
What if your computer denies to start someday or starts doing something random of its own? What if your someday they stop accepting your commands?
There is a huge potential in AI. But with great potentials come.great dangers we may not be aware of. As of now, maybe AI is no more just an Artificial intelligence but evolving into Actual intelligence.(AI)
