Air purifying plants: The spider plant

in #blog2 years ago

Hey hivers!

Pretty much every plant is good for our environment and improves the air quality. However, there are also special plants that are particularly suitable for improving the room climate. In this post I would like to present you one of them, the spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum).

The Spider plant belongs to the asparagus family (Asparagaceae) and originally this plant comes from South Africa. Now this plant is used as a houseplant almost everywhere in the world. There are about 200 different species that will grow up to 50 cm high on average.

Spider Plants are very easy to care and grateful plants, they are ideal as houseplants, but can also stand outdoors at the right temperature. They are not hardy plants and resistant to about 5 degrees Celicius.

One special thing is that this plant is able to filter up to 95% of the pollutants from the air. This process is done with the help of enzymes that are in the leaves, which renders environmental toxins harmless.

I have been an enthusiastic fan of this plant for years and can highly recommend it!
