Some Gemstone knowledge: Labradorite

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Hello and Blessed be! I've switched things up a bit in this blog. So I have decided to share with you wonderful and delightful people some gemstone knowledge. If there was only one passion that could rival my love for mythology it would be my obsession of gemstones. Since I was a small child , you could find me in a the dirt digging for rocks. I suppose I came by this naturally as my late great grandparents and aunt were "rock hounds".

This past year I have begun to transform this passion into part of my own business, by creating jewelry and wire sculptures with beautiful gemstones. There are many beliefs from all around the world that stones can have their own "magickal" properties and can benefit anyone who carries them. So I hope to share with some of the healing lore of these stones.

This is one of my very first gem trees made with Labradorite and wire.

Labradorite is perhaps one of my favorite stones. Naturally found in Labrador, Canada, and "discovered" by Moravian missionaries in the year 1770. Tho this stone was well known by the native cultures of the area. Labradorite is a form feldspar, very similar to moonstone. Also known as the stone of the Aurora Borealis. One myth from the Inuit tribes explained how a warrior found the stones and began to strike them to release the light trapped within, he was unable to release them all so we can now still find stones with light "trapped" within.

Note: When I am describing the healing aspects, I mean that these can aide in many healing processes but is not a replacement for any kind of medical aide. Please always consult a medical professional.

Labradorite is a wonderfully healing and protective stone. It helps shield the aura and
It resonantes with the crown, throat and heart chakra.

Is great for the those over thinkers! It helps to calm the mind but stimulates the imagination.

Is a wonderful tool used by shamans, healers and light workers. Its energy aids in reaching through the veils of the void where all knowledge is stored.

These are only a few of the amazing properties of Labradorite. Hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to the next gem.
