How are you doing today?
This morning has started off sunny. Let's see how long it'll last this time, huh.
Yesterday, my boyfriend came home early from work. He had taken the afternoon off! And he brought with him... a bread baking machine! So obviously, we went to the store that evening to buy ingredients and this morning, I cleaned the machine and threw in the ingredients. I don't have a scale here yet, so there was a bit of guessing involved. The machine is now busy at work with making our first bread, yay! I'm curious to see how it'll turn out.
The booklet said to make the basic recipe first, so I did just that. I'll be eager to try out other recipes though! Very happy with my gift!
Yesterday was a television heavy day. I want to try and do a little less PC time, because I don't have my own desk here yet. I'm trying to balance enough Steem time with enough non-pc time. It worked well yesterday.
We had dinner at my boyfriend's dad. Simple veggies, potatoes with gravy and a bit of chicken. Oh my gosh, I like potatoes with gravy so much! I hardly ever cook regular potatoes anymore and I'm horrible at making gravy, so it tastes extra good when I do eat it.
Oh, and I also made my minty recipe yesterday! I'll talk about that more in a future blog post. It turned out quite well!
I've started showing my HDR-heavy pictures. Got a few lined up, though I have to say, they are not my favorites. I liked them when I made them and HDR was new to me, but I never really go for heavy HDR processing anymore these days. It's just not realistic. I know it's possible, but I'm just doing it wrong!
This is the one I shared yesterday. It's alright I guess, but completely unrealistic. More like a painting kind of image.
No, these last couple of years, it's just a combination of shooting in RAW format, some adjustments in Lightroom and final touches in Photoshop. Though I should do more of it... I still have quite a few images to go through. Maybe once we've moved over my other stuff and I got my good desk again.
Anyway, that's it for now!
Have a good day!

It is lovely when one appreciates the gift that one has received. :c)
This from both sides of the exchange.
It sounds like he nailed it.
As for HDR - I think that it comes down to taste as well as the result that one is trying to achieve. I often find myself using overlay layers to boost the color in images that I take. Its not the first time that I catch myself wondering if the sky would be more blue were it not so laden in aluminium nano-particles - or whether my memories of times gone past were simply similarly color enhanced. :c)
Have a pleasant day.
He nailed it indeed :D
That's a good point! It really does come down to personal taste. I tend to use some blurred overlay layers to make the whole scene look at bit more dreamy. I learned it years ago... maybe I should give a short tutorial about that some day...
I never tried blurring an overlay before. I have tried sharpening a non-overlay layer while leaving the overlay unsharpened to soften the edges that result (it was an experiment) ;c)
Thank you kindly for the tip - I shall have to try this sometime. :c)
Good morning!
PS I like the idea of your contest. May be I'll take part in it in the near time!
Hey @playfulfoodie I'm jealous of your lovely morning, where abouts are you from. Over here in England it is a brisk cold morning chilling my feet to the bone as I walk to work!
Hi there @co0pz97, I'm from the Netherlands. It's quite cold in the mornings here aswell now, but we moved to a cabin a little while ago and once the fire gets started, it's soooo nice and warm inside :-)
Do you live very close to your work, or is it a public transport/walking trip?
nice post @playfulfoodie
