The Ancient Egyptians were far ahead of their time. They had advanced Agriculture, Architecture, Writing and EVEN Birth Control.

Astonishingly enough, the ancient Egyptians had just about every method of birth control we use today

The oldest and probably most bizarre was the use of crocodile 🐊 dong for CONTRACEPTION.

After mixing the reptiles song with fermented dough, women will sprinkle the concussion in and around their Vaginas to block sperm from reaching their uteri.

Some researchers think the Alkaline nature of the dong may have killed the sperm BUT as you can imagine, it is difficult to find participants who are willing to test this method out 😂

A few hundred years later, Egyptian women enlisted the help of the ACACIA tree in their contraception efforts.

Women mixed unripe Acacia fruit with honey and ground dates. They soaked a piece of cotton or other plant fibre in the paste and then inserted it.

This method of birth control was more effective than you might think 🤔.
Acacia gum ferments into latic acid which can act as a spermicide.

They even had a birth control pill 💊. Estrogen hormones are used i modern day pills to prevent ovulation.

Ancient Egyptians seem to have understood this because they consumed have d made pills from ground palmer groundnuts which actually contains high level of natural estrogen.

Men 🚹 also took it upon themselves to prevent birth.
The very first condoms were discovered in Egypt dating back 3500 years ago. These condoms were made from fine lining soaked in olive oil or from the intestinal membranes of sheep 🐑.

Interestingly enough Lamb skin condoms are still popular today

Ancient Egyptians even had accurate methods to test for pregnancy.
Women would pee on a barley plant. If the plant grew it meant she was pregnant.

This test have been confirmed by modern science. The pee of a none pregnant woman does in fact prevent barley from growing.

SO HOPEFULLY YOU FOUND THIS TOPIC INTERESTING... it's not exactly the kind of area they talk about often, but it is astonishing how ancient cultures affect us today.

Till next time ⌚ I'm TobiKen and love writing and talking... don't forget to spread the knowledge by RESTEEMING 😘
