Yes, I admit I'm a bit of a book nerd. New and used book stores and libraries are some of my favorite places to visit. When I heard the new Calder branch opened up at the end of January, I was itching to try it out. But with trip prep and packing and being away for two weeks, I never had a chance yet.
Until today.
As homeschoolers, we try not to go anywhere on a PD day to avoid the crowds but we braved it anyway to check out something new.
Located at 12710 131 Ave, Edmonton, the bright and open concept is very inviting. There's a tv and gaming area to your right when you first walk in, then the children's area is straight ahead.
After picking out a few books, the girls waited for a turn on the tablets.
There is a circular area for toddlers to play, with plenty of seating around the outside.
One of my favorite areas was the cosy seating around the fireplace.
Lots of natural light coming in makes it a very modern looking space. Plus, there are some eye grabbing art pieces to complete the look.
The former Calder branch was a small, cramped space and I loved the spaciousness of the new. We'll be back again soon. The girls want to play Minecraft on the big screen, so we'll visit during the day when school is in.
