We are less than a week away from the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Mega Event! Personally, I think this is more a farce than a fight, because if the fight is real, I don't see how someone who has never boxed professionally is going to take down one of the best - if not the best - boxer in the world. Mayweather has beaten the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Manny Pacquiao. This is assuming the fight is real. If the fight is fixed in any way, I still don't see Mayweather letting McGregor beat him. The only way he would is because Mayweather wagered money against himself when the odds started at 200-to-1 which is extremely unlikely given the fact that any big wagers at those odds would not have gone unnoticed. Now imagine trying to collect?
So either way, it will be very interesting to watch this spectacle (notice that I'm still refusing to call this a fight) unfold come Saturday, August 26th! I've already gotten my bets in and it should not surprise anyone here that my wager is on Mayweather to win.
However I understand that not everyone here shares my opinion, so to make August 26th more interesting, I'm running a contest where I will let you predict what's going to happen at the event. There will be 3 winners as follows:
#1 FIRST PLACE: $100 Steems
#2 SECOND PLACE: $50 Steems
#3 THIRD PLACE: $25 Steems
The rules are simple: there can only be one entry / one pick per Steemit user and you send your pick by replying to this post and you have to be specific, for example: "I pick Mayweather to win by KO in the 3rd round". If you think Mayweather is going to win by decision, you can be more specific by stating whether it will be a unanimous decision or a split decision. Remember, the more specific you are, the better off you are if your pick wins. So if you only pick Mayweather to win by KO, and he does, but someone else picks the round, that person wins. We will go by the rule of the Price is Right. If Mayweather knocks McGregor out in the 4th round and no one picks that round but if one person picks round 3 and another picks round 5, the person who picks round 3 wins.
In the case of a tie where there are 3 people picking Mayweather winning by KO in round 4, then I will total up the rewards and distribute them to all 3 evenly. If there are more than 3 winners, then the rewards will be distributed amongst all the winners.
In the unlikely event no one wins, I will evenly distribute the total price ($175) to everyone who participates in this contest.

I have to pick my winners for the US Open now (hint Zverev is a great pick even at +500 - I got in at +1000 two weeks ago right after he beat Federer at the Toronto Final. Nadal is also a good value at +250, followed by Kyrgios and Dimitrov at over 14-to-1 and 18-to-1 odds respectively).
McGregor is good but Once his patterns become predictable, Mayweather will pick him apart at will.

My money is on McGregor. He's fast, strong and young. He's still doing what he does (knocking people OUT.) Mayweather is a great fighter, no doubt. But he has been out of the game for what...6 years now? He's rusty, AND he is only a boxer. McGregor is trained in mixed fighting styles. If Mayweather can't keep McGregor at a distance, he's going down, probably on the 3rd round specifically.

Don't forget they're playing on boxing rules so McGregor can only use his fists. I agree Mayweather wouldn't last 3 seconds in the Octagon but McGregor is on Mayweather's turf here.
oh, snap. I didn't realize it was boxing rules. I'd still put McGregor to win, but in the 5th (don't change mine. I'll stick with it.) I still don't think Mayweather's 6 years outside of the ring is going to help him. I just hope he's been training since his last fight, otherwise it could get ugly.

Indeed it is a farce, and if I was allowed to have a second option, it would have been Mayweather by TKO.
Most of Mayweather's career was a farce, and possibly all of it.
"Mayweather has beaten the likes of Oscar De La Hoya," - an older man at a weight where he was drained after not weighing in at that weight for years
"Juan Manuel Marquez," - an older and smaller man
"and Manny Pacquiao" - a considerably smaller man coming into the fight with a shoulder injury
Same goes for Canelo and Mosley.
I had Maidana edging him in 1 fight and not losing in neither of their fights.
Floyd did deserve the judges' verdict against Cotto.

Mayweather TKO round 4 He will pick Conor apart every round and give him a few 8 counts then the referee will stop it. The fight is a complete joke the only people who think it will be competitive don't have any boxing experience. Bernard Hopkins won a world title at 49 and people seriously think Floyd won't be able to keep up with Conor because of his age, Floyd also 'retired' at 49-0 knowing he would come back for fight 50 so its not like he would have seriously stopped training either.

That was a darn good guess! You and steem-d-anlovnit just missed it by a round! I had the greatest experience last night watching it with my co-worker and his wife. He is a die hard McGregor fan and even though he lost, he did put up a good show! I have to tell you that I was a bit worried in the beginning that Mayweather looked vulnerable but as he said at the post interview, it was part of his plan! Mayweather is a MASTER TACTICIAN. There's a reason he was 49-0 before this fight! Brilliant execution of his master plan. The ref should not have stopped the fight as I wanted to see McGregor hit the canvas! But oh well, it was a great night with a great friend watching a great fight. I hope you had a similar experience!
I'm in Cyprus, so we had to get up at 4am to hit the local pub and watch the fight. The main fight started as the sun was rising. Bacon sandwitches, beer and boxing at 5am. Epic!
Yeah, I had a feeling that McGregor could take a bit of a beating and I think everyone was pretty surprised that he's actually a very respectible boxer. He wasted a lot of his energy in the early rounds, but he was still throwing big punches right to the end.

No it's not taken so I assume that's your entry. Personally I think Mayweather will let him hang with him until he thinks the public got their money's worth and then start taking him seriously. As much as I would like to see McGregor win, he is out of his wheelhouse. I agree that McGregor has age and reach on his side, but Mayweather has been boxing for many years. I think that with all of the show and money that is going into this fight, it will probably go all the way to the judges. So, I will guess that Mayweather will will by split decision.

No doubt McGregor would dominate in his sport. However with this being a boxing exhibition Floyd will dominate most of the fight.
While McGregor will have moments and flurries against the ropes Floyds shoulder roll a defensive game will wear McGregor down.
