5 Tips That'll Help You Get Better at Taking Risks...

in #business6 years ago

One thing I always encourage entrepreneurs to do is to take risks. All the time, I mention why taking risks is good for your business, but I am not going to pretend or lie to you that taking risks is a very easy thing to do. It is a habit you have to imbibe and a gradual process that you have to get used to. As a business owner, you have to explore beyond your comfort zone, and this also means taking risks. These tips will help you get better at taking risks:

Believe in yourself.

One thing that holds people back from taking risks is self doubt and uncertainty. The truth is that there's absolutely no way you can be 100% sure of the outcome of the risk you're about to take. If you have anything you want to do, just believe in yourself, in your vision and believe that where you're going will be better than where you are now. Believe that whatever has gotten you this far will see you through and take you further.

Think small.

Inasmuch as you want to achieve something big or take a big leap, it can be quite overwhelming with the bigger picture flashing through your eyes all the time. What do you do? You break them into small chunks. Visualise how you'll go about achieving it and then take it one step at a time.

Throw away perfection.

Well, not literally. We know you really love to do everything perfectly, but you are human and mistakes are bound to occur. Don't go about with the perfection mentality, instead, always do the best you can. If your best isn't good enough, learn more, push further. But never push yourself to a breaking point, that will discourage you from taking future risks.

Thrive on fear.

So many people let fear hold them back when taking risks. But as for you, acknowledge your fear but never let it control you. Make fear your personal force, use it as a motivational tool to take you to places you ordinarily wouldn't want to go.

Build a community.

You can make friends with people who share your passion and ideologies. These people will help you grow your confidence and open up your mind to lots of new ideas. The importance of building a community is crucial to opening your mind to take a risk.
