Hey everyone! Welcome to another Clive's English Corner post!
This week's idiom is
"Bite off more than you can chew"

This idiom relates back to trying to consume a portion of your entire meal that is too big for you to handle at a time. It's not about the entire amount of food, but the piece that you are taking at once that is inadequate. This serves as a metaphor for trying to accomplish excessively large or too numerous tasks at once. Let's take a look at a possible dialog:
-Oh man, I'm doing so badly this semester.
-Really? but you were performing so well the last term.
-Yeah, I know! But, now I'm taking 10 courses to finish in a shorter time.
-Maybe you're biting off more than you can chew!
-I guess so. Maybe I should withdraw a couple.

I've had to use this idiom a lot the past 6 months or so! lol
There are a lot of things we can do, but not enough time or focus. We need to be selective with our time. We can't bite off more than we can chew.
Thanks Clive!
