RE: Don't Worry... Re: Hard Fork 20, They Will Fix It One Way Or Another

in #busy7 years ago

Well, I'm going to comment. I think I'm good for it. :)

I think your points are well made. The user experience will need to improve for those who can't do much now, or they will leave. My guess is, we're still in limbo until the 2.75 days are up on the voting power renewal, and then we'll see where the resource credits lie. Some people seem to be waiting until they're at 100% to do anything anyway, which depending on how many RCs they have may be the only thing they can do.

From what I can tell, there hasn't been any new user accounts made through the steem account since just before the hard fork took place, unless claiming accounts, which is what the steem account has been doing since Hard Fork 20, counts as account creation.

Sort:

@wehmoen created a few accounts under the new system. It, um, didn't work out well for him. His account is now permanently disabled by negative RCs. but you can see what it looks like by looking at his steemd.

Okay, so when you say permanently, does that mean he's talked to someone about it and they told him sorry, no can do? Also, why in the world did the system even allow him to do it? That's a negative 287 TRILLION he's got going there.

So, what's the solution here? He can't be the only one attempting to do this.

It could presumably be patched. But it will not recover unless it is patched.

Thanks Glen for using your RCs and of course you are always good for it (and at it) :)

I think you are right about the 2.75 days and I was going to wait to make that point at that time (if it wasn't better). But then it dawned on me that maybe it won't be better, and I sure as hell want them working on a patch of some kind ASAP if its not going to be fixed. I can wait through it, but many people can't/won't... To me it will be a shame to lose them for a lack of solutions either being enacted (or explained)... I think many wouldn't jump to conclusions if they trusted the people at the top had it under control (and were given the straight scoop), but unfortunately I think the rollout of this thing took away a lot of that patience. Its ok... They can certainly solve even a poorly planned upgrade, but they will need to get out ahead of the issues and explain what the future will look like (and listen if people tell them something won't work).

As for the new accounts, thanks for the info... That's useful information and I imagine many numbers and metrics look horrible right now! Always good to talk with you Glen and thanks for using a few of your RCs again to reply!
