Of course, we care about our health and body, we try to get away from fats, sugar and carbohydrates in large quantities, but we could easily make mistakes. In a publication for Food and Wine, nutritionist Cynthia Sass devoted herself to explain and disprove five myths related to healthy eating. Get to know them and improve their habits.

1 When you eat junk food, you can burn it

Contrary to what most people believe, exercising is not a synonym of having a free way to eat foods with fat or saturated sugar. Remember that trans fats that contain, in addition to increasing the bad cholesterol in the body, often trigger autoimmune, cardiovascular and obesity .

The foods we choose are key to good health, and the damage that junk food causes us can not be reversed with physical training - no matter how hard it is . Trying to reward a poor choice of diet with exercise is a bad idea because physical activity generates waste and if you do not have adequate nutrition, it is difficult to recover.

It is best to be physically active, and eat healthy.

2 It's okay to eat all the protein you want

Proteins keep us healthy because they serve to form and repair tissues of the skin, muscles and organs. That is why many people tend to exaggerate their consumption, but this could actually result in effects contrary to what they are looking for, such as weight gain, for example.

Like everything on the subject of food, the key is balance. A good practice if you are physically active is to consume half a gram of protein for each pound of your ideal weight. That is to say, if your target plotted in relation to your height is 140 pounds, you do not need more than 70 grams of protein daily.

This nutrient can be obtained from different sources, such as beef, turkey, pork, fish and chicken, eggs , milk, cheese and yogurt , soy, beans, lentils, peanuts, etc.

3 Eating after exercising cancels your training

This is a lie! In fact, it is important to eat after an exercise session because as mentioned above, the body suffers wear and will need to recover.

To obtain a good result, choose foods that contain vitamins , minerals, antioxidants and healthy fats. A salad, a vegetable smoothie or a fruit smoothie are good choices.

4 Is the fruit as bad as candy?

Although clearly the fruit is healthier than cookies, cakes and sweets, there is a myth that natural sugar can also make us gain extra pounds. But remember that fruits contain water, fiber and other important nutrients for the body. Choosing fruits on foods with saturated sugar will decrease your caloric intake so it is important that you include it in your daily diet. One serving at breakfast and another as a snack or dessert after lunch may be a good option.

5 Eating fat makes it go up in size and weight

There are healthy fats like those that contain avocado, walnuts and olive oil, and in addition to staying full for a long time, can help increase metabolism and be excellent sources of antioxidants. In fact, including a portion of healthy fat in each meal can give you excellent results for your health and nutrition.
