WORKING BUT NOT WORKING

in #busy8 years ago (edited)

It's very common especially in Nigeria here where people have had the notion that work means waking up in the morning, get your formal wears on and march to a place called office.

We assume all that matters is going to school, get a job with an already existing firm and serve them, sometimes in the capacity of a slave.

My Observation

One very thing I have noticed in time past is that this kind of job does several things to you which includes:

  • A monthly stipend with no guarantee of meeting your needs
  • A box where you just blend into an existing culture
  • A way of life you do not have control over
  • Much stress from working without clue sometimes and of course, lacking fulfillment
  • Sometimes, exposure to the danger of losing your personal credibility just to fulfill your job obligations
  • It's okay for some reasons if the monthly pay can cushion all these effect which I sincerely doubt especially in our very peculiar situation in Nigeria.

    But why do we work?
    For pleasure?
    For fulfillment?
For meeting an unending daily requirement?

Whatever the reason is, I believe that fulfillment should top the chat because that's only how you become passionate about the job.

    Usual Nigerian experience

Every parent believes that education is the key to the future and school is the appropriate quarters where the right kind of education is groomed into the children.

I do agree, but the part I completely disagree with is the part that school is the only platform for education, thanks to some people who overtime have redefined the process and given credence to the believe that school is just one of the route to being educated

Well, I have seen really great guys today who knew so much without being within the four walls of a school. Anyone remember the Indian movie, Slumdog Millionaire?

That movie is an epic way to describe my thoughts right here.

An untalented, yet talented lad who made a fortune just by paying attention to the little details flying around or let's say details that he coincidentally knew just by his simple life experience. Do we say experience is the best teacher?

Well, I think experience is one great teacher but maybe not the best. I stand to be corrected.

So, every goal after sending a child to school is to help the child groom his or her thoughts just to make life easy for himself or herself after school. It turns out that the real experience is so far from the earlier expectations. We all leave school with high hopes of jobs but face it,

There are no ready made jobs out there anymore.

Who even pays you for the accumulation of the school curriculum?

Life curriculum has actually altered the school curriculum, presenting real life situations backed up by challenges for every phase that you do not even remember the mostly abstract knowledge gained from schooling for years.

That very daring life situation is that job which asks you to present a formula for putting food on the table.

    Is the job hidden?

    Where is the job?

No one really can give any tangible answer to that question because we are all bunch of clueless people who think that paid job will just be the answer, and with my little life experience, I have seen graduates who will rather stay at home without doing anything but take their curriculum vitaes from one spot to another looking for a blink of hope, or pity from a boss who will guarantee another few years of psychological imprisonment on doing the routine and not having expected self results.

Some become so lucky, but hey, a whole bunch of others are still looking out for such a hopeful, yet hopeless situation.

I have been there before but I can tell
there is nothing like staying independent and >working from yourself and for yourself

You can lack a job but have a job

I strongly believe that the world belongs to those who are creating the jobs that others are looking for.

Are you part of the few?

Blogging is now so interesting because steemit made it a wonderful reality, but trust me, if that is all you do especially in this part of the world, there are indications people will look down on your kind of job because it doesn't look like the conventional kind.

Well, if you ask me, I believe you are working but not working

You are working because you are the only one who can convince yourself that you are, and you are not working because you most likely do not have the control over how and why people think you are not working, so you stay working based on your believe and as far as it answers the question of the formula for putting the food on the table, you ought to stay at it.

Like they say, what is worth doing is worth doing well,

if you think this is your drift from life distractions, and a shift for life explosive experience, wouldn't you rather bank on it?

Work is work and if work gives you worth, stay working the worth.

Pretty good writeup, and I'd tend to agree.

My thoughts are basically "learn to sell", and then money just "magically" appears around you.

    Thanks for this contribution

    Nice write up

    Thanks for reading through

@phait,many thanks for this write up. Your thought line is second to none.

Thanks @ghadafish for this priceless comet. Glad you like it

My thought and view of life has always been, create a value that solves a problem, you won't beg for worth

So true.... Solving a problem always evolve testimonials that eventually give worth.

Oh yes! You killed it...Value and its resultant rewards...Beautiful!

    Thanks mama.
