It's been a pretty wild ride here on Steemit, but I finally achieved a long standing dream of mine of becoming a dolphin. Why make the decision to invest in Steemit you ask? Here are three of the main reason for why I decided to take the plunge!
First mover advantage
Although many new social media blockchains are popping up every so often, Steemit was the first to establish a presence, which will mean a lot when more money starts flowing into crypto again.
Last year during the bull run we all saw the price of Steem rally to almost 10$ while SBD was a concerning 15$. Although this is not guaranteed to happen again, I believe that this bear market won't last forever and Steemit's first mover advantage and successful growth through SMTs and other DAPs will give us a good shot to have another rally like we saw in 2017.
Passive Income
This is kind of a sore subject to talk about because I've been a minnow for over a year and a half and hated how the larger accounts just blindly delegated their funds away.
A big reason for why I moved and powered up a large amount of my savings and power up was because I believe in the future of Steemit.
Another reason for powering up was to have my money work for me and generate passive income to help pay off close to the half million in student debt I am going to owe after dental school.
I plan to still give back to the community and have a few ideas in the works, but most of my time is going to be spent studying, so It makes sense to put my sp in a place that will allow it to grow.
Establish A Presence On Steemit
When I first joined Steemit, I was in love with the idea of blogging and making crypto and instantly became addicted to the process of establishing connections and growing my brand. I eventually started to notice some cracks in the foundation that steemit was built on and realized that it was almost impossible to grow as a minnow without the constant support of larger accounts.
Then came voting bots and delegations and you all know the rest. I made post after post preaching about the toxic culture in our community, but every time nobody heard me until I just up and quit Steemit all together.
Obviously I believe in the future of Steemit, which is evident considering my recent power up, but we are far away from establishing our "ideal community". I'm hoping I can make some change now that I have a larger stake.
Hopefully my story helped me properly introduce Steemit's new dolphin and maybe motivated a few of you minnows to invest and power up as well. Until next time, this has been a message from your friendly neighborhood #spiderblogger!

There should be a congratulations post for every new dolphin. It's a rather elite status in our community, with only just over 2000 accounts at that size or above.
I just looked at @arcange's stats, even with the low activity these days, we've had 22 new dolphins in the last week. In other words 3 minnows become dolphins every day.

Congrats on dolphin status. I have mostly the same opinion as you have expressed on the post and have invested in STEEM along the way. I'm working towards dolphin status but since i don't have much money to spare I am trying to do it mostly au-natural.
It's great to see people committed to the long term future of STEEM and i do think in the years to come that we will do very well from investing now.

That is truly excellent! Congratulations on reaching dolphin status. I'm shooting for the same once I have the funds to do so. Law school is plenty expensive as well, as is raising two kids. :D I hope you can make the changes you're looking for here in Steemit.
Oh I definitely understand the struggle! I’m in dental school at the moment and had to make some sacrifices to make this happen!

It definitely feels great to be a Dolphin but as you think about the same reasons you became a Dolphin, it makes you wonder how much more we can do and help others achieve the same. If we truly want to benefit from the growth and adoption of STEEM, we need to support others to get here as well! Look forward to seeing more of you around!
It’s one of the greatest experiences in my crypto journey! Now that I’m fully invested it only makes sense to me to establish a drive to want to help grow steemit!

I recently gained interest back into Steemit and soon realised that I somewhat believes in the core idea of community powered social media so moved down of the savings over here nad powered up all of it. Not that big as yours but you are an inspiration for sure and I hope to reach that milestone one day for sure.

I quite agree on the second point, it is really an end to a means. Meanwhile, it varies as regards the regions. It maybe passive at your end but really an integral part over here as the economy keeps dwindling. Even Steem is more like a source of income to some (myself inclusive).

The sad truth about Steemit:
At least at the beginning, you always need someone with a dolphin status or more to get some 'actual' return for your effort. Then, it's a good practice to pay it forward...
You’ve been here longer than me so I know you’ve worked hard to get where you are!
And yes, it’s all about paying it forward! I already have a few projects to support minnows in mind that I want to try out!
If large accounts gave to all the new users, no one would have a reason to buy... I am mostly kidding it is all about the numbers.
