Autovotes are great because they allow people to support the accounts and/or communities they want to support, and because it's the only way some people are able to use their voting power. Letting your voting power reach 100% is losing money.

You can vote manually or follow curation trail that upvote quality content
Vote manually is more work intensive. Following a curation trail is also an autovote. Both are good options depending on what you want. If I had a significant stake I would certainly set an auto vote on some accounts because I would want to support them.
Btw post quality has maybe 1% to do with the votes you get. Most importantly it's the connections you make (both positive and negative). Also, your own stake but that's just an easier way to increase your positive connections and make it more difficult to be affected by negative connections.
A new or unknown user could write the next Lord of the Rings in here and they would get barely any votes. Someone with good connections posts a picture of their lunch and they get $50.
which doesn't mean it's fine like that
But it's what happens. So you shouldn't be so invested in my posts that used to make $1 that you believe they are of low quality. You should be more worried that those whales control everything and we're playing in a rigged game, picking up bread crumbs, until they don't even let us have that anymore.
No clue what you are about
