Marijuana still remains illegal to possess, grow or trade in the United Kingdom.

If you are caught with Marijuana you could face up to a maximum of five years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.

If you are convicted of producing and supplying Cannabis, which is currently a Class-B drug, carries up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.

UK Police can issue a warning or a fine on the spot if you're caught with a small amount - generally less than 1oz is considered as personal use.

Is it illegal to consume Cannabis in your own home?

Like all drugs in the UK, Cannabis is regulated extremely stringently by the government.

As the punishments suggest, it's completely illegal to smoke Cannabis anywhere in the UK - including on your own home.

Some police forces recently (see previous post for more info) have taken a more laid-back attitude to the recreational drug, which is believed to be the most popular in Britain.

Prosecution rates for Marijuana possession are as low as 15% in Cornwall and Devon, while Durham Police have said they "will no longer target recreational users at all". I have a link in previous post to this article.

Is medical Cannabis legal in the Great Britain?

Medicinal Cannabis is available on prescription, however so far I haven't heard of a single GP actually prescribing any. I believe it is up to the GP as to whether they 'believe in it' or not.

Doctors have been able to prescribe Cannabis products to patients since November 2018.

The only reason the Home Secretary allows it is because of several high-profile cases, including young epilepsy sufferers Alfie Dingley and Billy Caldwell, whose conditions were helped by Cannabis oil.

In order for a Marijuana product to be considered medicinal it must meet three requirements in the UK:

It "needs to be a preparation or product which contains Cannabis, Cannabis resin, Cannabinol or a Cannabinol derivative; it is produced for medicinal use in humans and; is a medicinal product, or a substance or preparation for use as an ingredient of, or in the production of an ingredient of, a medicinal product".

Its a start I suppose, but you pretty much need to be on your death bed to even get anywhere near medicinal Cannabis in the UK.

Do you know of anyone who has managed to get access to medical Cannabis in the UK? If so, please drop a coment down below as I'd be really interested to know.
