For all the foreigners commenting here saying why not auction it off, then give to charity, that's ideal but to enlighten you all a little.

That was the norm here before, they sell them to auctions but the people who would buy them are representatives of the same people who smuggled these cars. Which they will then sell for a huge profit which enabled them yet again to smuggle more luxury cars. So it was a never ending cycle , that is until Duterte.

This is the Philippines and our President's way of stopping corruption, don't act and comment like you are on high ground while you are sitting comfortably in your chairs thousand miles away and most don't even know how to spell "Filipino" right.

If you are so concerned of feeding the poor people here, why not come here and talk the talk and walk the walk .

If people could think beyond "what a waste of money?!"
They are recyclable and that's exactly what was done with these cars.
By selling the cars you are saying it's okay for these cars to be smuggled and brought illegally to the country.
This action was a stand against corruption.
By auctioning it off whose to say the buyers wont be smugglers and syndicates ? Which will be the most likely outcome which by then with all the papers done up the cars would be legal in the hands of crooks.

What a waste 🤦 fair play humans are stupid ! Why not sell them of and donate the money to charity or set up some sort of founding for the less fortunate... the people saying this can't be done because they get back to the criminals, surely you just have to come up with a better system?! or go crazy and Sell Them abroad and then invest the money, I don't know.

You can sell them and donate the money to the schools, to the hospitals, feed the poor, give the homeless a home... the list go on and on, but because of ego, this guy choose to pour $5.5 million down the drain...
