The Light for Education program was envisaged to provide a safe, cost-effective and reliable solution to the problems existing in several villages of Karnataka and other parts of South India that have extremely unreliable access to the grid or, worse, completely lack any access. The students are provided solar lamps. The program aims to improve the academic performance of the schoolchildren by providing an affordable, reliable light source for students residing in rural areas.
