3 methods

  • Acknowledge the problem

  • Make the person feel comfortable to face more serious panic attacks

  • Perseverance

It can be quite alarming to witness a person suffering from a panic attack. You may feel helpless in a fairly simple situation, although it may not always be that way. Follow these recommendations to help the person overcome this panic attack as quickly as possible.

1 Understand what the person lives.

People who suffer panic fears have sudden and repeated attacks of minutes to an hour, but rarely because the body simply does not have the energy to endure it for a long time.

Panic attacks are characterized by fear of disaster or loss of control, although there is no real danger. A panic attack can occur without warning and for no apparent reason.

In the most extreme cases, the symptoms may be accompanied by an acute fear of death. Although they are quite stressful and can last from five minutes to an hour, panic attacks do not threaten life itself.

Panic attacks put the body in a state of great excitement, which makes the individual suffering from it lose control.

The mind is ill-prepared for aggression or flight, forcing the body to win the hand to help the victim face or escape danger, whether real or not.

Cortisol and adrenaline are hormones released by the glands and they spill into the blood and this is where the panic attack process begins.

The mind can not distinguish the difference between a real danger and one that exists only in the head. Fear is real if you believe it, at least from the brain's point of view.

The victim may react as if his life were in danger, and that is what he feels. Try to understand the situation: it's like someone is holding a knife under your throat telling you that I was going to cut you, but he was going to wait and let you guess this moment, what could happen when.

The case of someone who died from a panic attack has never been reported. It can only be fatal when it is accompanied by a preexisting health problem such as asthma or if it behaves in an extreme way, such as jumping out the window.

2 Observe the symptoms.

A person who has never experienced a panic attack will react on two different levels, the second is not understanding what is happening.

You can alleviate the biggest problem if you can recognize a panic attack.

The symptoms are the following:

  • palpitations or pains in the chest
  • an acceleration of the heart rate
  • rapid or choppy breathing
  • Headaches
  • Back pain
  • tremors
  • tingling in the fingers or toes
  • perspiration
  • a dry mouth
  • difficulty to swallow
  • dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting due to hyperventilation
  • nausea
  • abdominal cramps
  • a feeling of cold and heat

3 Call medical emergencies, if the person is experiencing it for the first time.

If in doubt, it is always best to call a doctor immediately. It is doubly important if the person has diabetes, asthma or some other health problem. It is important to consider the signs and symptoms of a panic attack because they are often similar to those of a heart attack. Keep this in mind when evaluating the situation.

Perseverance is defined as "constancy in the way of being or acting"

To achieve our dreams, it is essential to work hard on them.

Set a goal and focus your energies on achieving it. The beginnings are never easy but the satisfaction of materializing your dreams is worth it.

Do not give up!
