Parece que ya he terminado mi primera aventura con la espátula, una experiencia muy satisfactoria, en la que he apartado a un lado el perfeccionismo y el trabajo al detalle para dejarme llevar por los colores y las luces. Con "parece" me refiero a que aún no he firmado el cuadro, lo que significa que quizás le quede algún toque: si os soy sincera, ¡no sé qué podrá ser!, pero no me atrevo a darlo por terminado (jejeje).
Esta es la imagen que propuso la profesora en clase (imagen 1): un atardecer en la playa, visto desde las dunas. Y como os conté en "Descubriendo la espátula" ha resultado ser finalmente una tarea muy atractiva. Hemos visto paso a paso cómo se iba cubriendo el cielo (imágenes 5, 6 y 7) y después el mar (imágenes 8, 9 y 10), y mientras se iba secando capa capa, pasábamos a la arena (imágenes 11, 12 y 13).
Hoy ha sido la jornada definitiva, en la que hemos comenzado a "manchar" con el verde de la vegetación (imagen 14). Siempre con movimientos más o menos verticales, iba cubriendo diferentes zonas con colores verdes, en diferentes tonalidades. En la paleta no terminaba de mezclar los colores, sino en el propio lienzo. Es más, a veces incluso los tomaba directamente para mezclarlos sobre la tela.
Comencé con un verde medio (imagen 15), y sobre él (y nunca con una cubrición total), fui añadiendo tonos por encima y por debajo, según la zona (imagen 4). Por ejemplo, lo que sería la base de las plantas o las que quedaban detrás de otras, llevaban un tono más oscuro, conseguido con el mismo verde y un añadido de azul y siena. Por otra parte, en las zonas donde se podía intuir que llegaban con más facilidad los últimos rayos de sol del día, predominaba junto a ese verde medio el amarillo.
Otro detalle a la hora de aplicar la pintura con la espátula, fue la leve inclinación que le di a las plantas, hacia la derecha, como si una leve brisa las estuviera empujando en esa dirección.
Me faltaba añadir el Sol, y lo hice con una nítida mancha blanca mezclada con un poco de amarillo, en el centro del horizonte. Después entremezclé ese color con el magenta del cielo, y añadí también ese tono al mar, cual reflejo (imagen 16).
Añadí también sombras a los pies de la vegetación, a base de magenta, azul y siena (imagen 15). De igual forma que tomé la mezcla de blanco y amarillo usada en el sol, para darle intensos toques de luz en los extremos y bordes de los matorrales (imagen 16).

This is the image that the teacher proposed in class (image 1): a sunset on the beach, seen from the dunes. And as I told you in "Discovering the spatula" it has finally turned out to be a very attractive task. We have seen step by step how the sky (images 5, 6 and 7) and then [the sea](https://peakd. com/cervantes/@marguimiau/seguimos-con-la-marina-continuing-with-the-seascape) (images 8, 9 and 10), and while the layer was drying, we moved on to the sand (images 11, 12 and 13).Today was the final day, in which we started to "stain" with the green of the vegetation (image 14). Always with more or less vertical movements, I covered different areas with different shades of green. He did not finish mixing the colours on the palette, but on the canvas itself. What's more, sometimes I even took them directly to mix them on the canvas.
I started with a medium green (image 15), and over it (and never with total coverage), I added tones above and below, depending on the area (image 4). For example, what would be the base of the plants or the ones behind others, had a darker tone, achieved with the same green and an addition of blue and sienna. On the other hand, in the areas where it could be sensed that the last rays of sunlight of the day were coming through more easily, yellow predominated alongside this medium green.
Another detail when applying the paint with the palette knife was the slight inclination I gave the plants, towards the right, as if a light breeze was pushing them in that direction.
I had yet to add the sun, and I did so with a crisp patch of white mixed with a little yellow, in the centre of the horizon. Then I mixed that colour with the magenta of the sky, and I also added that tone to the sea, as a reflection (image 16).
I also added shadows to the feet of the vegetation, based on magenta, blue and sienna (image 15). In the same way I took the mixture of white and yellow used in the sun, to give intense touches of light at the ends and edges of the bushes (image 16).
Realmente ha sido un ejercicio muy completo, en el que hemos tenido que darle forma a diferentes medios a base de un uso particular de la espátula en cada uno de ellos: en el cielo eran pasadas horizontales y más o menos rectas; en el mar eran suaves movimientos con forma de ondas; la arena fue a base de "golpecitos" sobre la tela; y la vegetación se consiguió a base de pasadas verticales que se dejaban difuminar en los extremos, coincidiendo con el final de los tallos. Queda tanto por aprender, y estoy deseando ponerme a ello. Os dejo, ¡me voy a practicar! ;)

Que interesante lo del diferente modo de usar la espátula para lograr diferentes efectos. La idea de pintar con espátula siempre me ha parecido interesante en la pintura abstracta, pero para algo más realista no se podría, creo que me desesperaría en el proceso. Gracias por compartir!
