Todos los días Don Juan tomaba un libro a la hora de la comida y se quedaba viendo la misma página por largo rato. El dueño de la finca les había dicho que cualquiera podía leer en su tiempo de descanso después de comer, pero nadie se atrevía a entrar a la oficina excepto Don Juan.
Un día uno de los albañiles se le acercó y le preguntó si sabía leer, el sonrió brevemente sin agregar palabra. En eso iba entrando el patrón y le dice que Don Juan fue su maestro en la universidad, en aquel tiempo era maestro de cálculo y de redacción de documentos legales, pues tenía dos carreras universitarias una en matemáticas y otra en derecho.
Al llegar nuevamente a la obra el joven albañil le preguntó al viejo porque teniendo dos carreras universitarias trabajaba de albañil, el solo le contestó que un día simplemente quiso cambiar de profesión.
