I think we all come to a point eventually when we realize that playing the game of life speaking in terms of chess - that there is no checkmate. But what else is there but to move the pieces around then? There are choices. One can move the pieces in a clever way to demonstrate to others how clever one is, one can move them in a fun way just to have a bit of light-hearted joy, one can stare at the board and not move any piece at all.

The one thing one can't do is break the rules of how the pieces are moved -> the punishment being exiled from the pretend game altogether. Just like Sisyphus was punished by the Gods to push the rock up and down. This is where interpretation is important.

What if Sisyphus was the one who actually was liberated? He is no longer obligated to pretend to play the chess game of life and hope for a checkmate that doesn't exist. In a sense, his new predicament, with all its pointlessness and worthless struggle, is more real than whatever he had before.
