What faith will you choose?

in #christianity6 years ago

One of my favorite television shows is Monk, several times throughout the series he refers to his quirks related to his impeccable observation skills “as a gift and a curse”. The same can be said regarding free will, a gift given to us by our creator. You see, everyone lives life with faith, choice and the consequences related to him or her. When I say faith, I am not meaning faith in a religious context per se. You see you put faith, to a degree, when you get in the car to go to work in the morning or get on a plane to fly. The faith that is expressed is not thought about, it is assumed. We assume that we will arrive at our destination as anticipated, with minimal, anticipated possible delays, such as traffic etc. There is also faith in various worldly endeavors as well. Everyone learns about the theory of evolution in school for example. This scientific theory is widely accepted as fact by most of the world without much thought or question, or in other words by faith. Many do not realize that Charles Darwin the theory’s creator was trying to explain the origin of our species if you took God out of the equation, in other words how could we get here from nothing? Many other examples could be pointed out Climate Change, sexual orientation and many other social issues that are prevalent in our society today. Where proof and science fail to prove these theories people resort to faith. Life is full of faith and choices. The ultimate choice is what will you put your faith in? Being an atheist requires faith. The Bible defines faith and it can apply to anything, Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Now you have choice in what you put your faith in but the “curse” portion of choice is consequence. You can choose to believe in God, more specifically you can choose to believe that Jesus died a substitutionary death for our sin. Additionally that He rose from the grave on the third day as proof of God’s approval of the completed work of salvation. This faith entitles us to spend eternity together with God, or you can choose to refuse this gift or faith. I am not talking about denominations or church memberships, I do not find any referred to in the Bible. This choice is truly yours and does have consequences here and later. Sin pollutes our hearts, weakens our conscience and corrupts our morals as individuals, as families and as a country. The attitude of anything goes and do whatever feels good leads to decay, disease and mental distress. It displays itself on television screens 24 hours a day. Faith in the things and people of this world plays itself out before us. We know what faith in this world gives us, it is time to seek the faith that makes a difference first personally and then within our society. The faith that truly makes a difference for the betterment of all of us. Each of us must make the choice. To make no choice, is making a choice against. Be intentional about where you put your faith.
