Righteousness in another very important piece of armour that every child of God must have in place at all times in order to be able to withstand Satan's constant onslaught.
Righteousness entails right living uprightness, integrity in one's lifestyle and character and conforming of our will with God's will.

A part of the life of David in the story in our text today vividly illustrates how a child of God can be exposed to the vagaries of satanic attack in consequence of living a righteous life. David was a man that was intact, he fought and won several battles both physically and spiritually. He was practically invincible in spite of several attacks against his life; but he became weak and vulnerable and several calamities befell him the moment he decided to indulge in unrighteous act contrary to the will of God.

Indulging in any form of unrighteousness is tantamount to a removal of a protective cover against Satan's attack which Paul describes as "the breastplate of righteousness" in Eph 6:14. It is like breaking the hedge and allowing the serpent to gain entry and bite. God expects of us a life of integrity that confirms with His will at all times.
