As it is well known; the Mexican Guillermo del Toro leaves as favorite to win the prize as best director for his film The Shape of Water. The South American already won the Golden Globe and the Directors Guild Award; so it is more than likely that we will see him this March 4 winning the Academy Award.
But before seeing if this prize is won or not, I have decided to make a micro top of the directors who have won the Oscar most times as BEST DIRECTOR. without further delay, let's start
POSITION 3:
It is impossible to put only one director in this position since many have been the talented who have won 2 Oscars in this category. but among the most remarkable of these directors, according to my opinion, are:
- Steven Spielberg, director of several of the greatest cult films such as PARQUE JURASICO or E.T THE EXTRATERRESTRE wins this position, since with many of his films he has marked forever the history of cinema. he is also expected to break his 2 oscars brand with his most recent movie by releasing READY PLAYER ONE, a movie that I sincerely hope for a lot.
- Clint Eastwood, before dedicating himself to the direction of movies, dedicated himself to acting in films such as TARANTULA, FOR A PUÑADO DE DOLARES, and HARRY EL SUCIO. but it was not until 1971 that he became a director and to this day he has gained a lot of fame. his films are characterized by being realistic and in some cases they even become depressing. I honestly am not a big fan of this director but I must say that I loved his work in GRAND TORINO, a film that he directs and performs. his most awarded films were MILLION DOLLAR BABY and INFORGIVEN.

in the history of the oscar there have only been 3 people in winning the amount of 2 oscars, 1 of them already managed to break this mark and is the one that is in 1 place.
- Frank Capra, this was a famous director of the 30s and 40s and is known for starting the so-called EPOCA DORADA DEL CINE. won his first Oscar for best director in the movie IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, a film that won another 4 Oscar in different categories. After several years he became a war documentarian and won another award for best film with his documentary WHY WE FIGHT in 1945, this film is considered a masterpiece in war propaganda, since he managed to convince a whole country to enter the war, motivate the troops and obtain the alliance of the USSR, among other issues of crucial historical importance. His most famous film today ¡QUE BELLO EN VIVIR¡ is considered a work of worship and a classic among all the Christmas movies. This man died in 1991 at the age of 91, no doubt a person who marked a before an.
- William Wyller, this man needs no introduction, he was another director of the 30s and 40s and he is also the possessor of 3 oscars. He is famous for creating what undoubtedly many consider one of the best movies of all time, BEN-HUR, this movie not only stood out for its argument but was completely ahead of its time bringing everything from horse racing to one of the best arguments of his time. This has been a film so well directed that not even the remake of this 2016 could improve it. For this film Wyler went down in history as one of the best of all time.
