第一次看到美国建房子的过程说实话是非常震惊的。首先是因为房子除了地基是水泥外，整个地上的支撑结构都是木头；然后，就是惊讶于盖房子速度的快，除去等许可证以及天气等其它因素耽误的时间，真正的建筑的时间大概只要4周左右。

To be honest, I was shocked when I see how the house is built in the States first time. First, all the structure on the ground is made of wood. Second, it is extremely fast. Except from the time required for permission and climate change, it takes about only 4 weeks to finish the build.

实际上呢，美国民房的基础结构确实都是以木制房屋为主。

In fact, most house in the States is made of wood. The most import reason here is cost. Unlike china, forester resource is cheaper than China. People want to use timber to build house to saving cost. However, in those luxury community, you can find more and more bricks are used in housing construction. Since the labor fee is very high in the States. Wooden structure always take less time than concrete structure.

最重要的原因当然是因为成本（钱！）
不同于国内，美国的人均森林资源相对丰富因而价钱也更加低廉，相反钢筋混泥土反而更加昂贵。其实在很多高档的小区，采用石头或者砖头的房屋也不在少数。从资源的配置来说，大部分的民房都是三层以下，因此采用木制结构无疑是更划算的选择。然而在大中城市钢筋混凝土结构的房屋也越来越普遍。另一方面因为美国的人工费非常高昂，因此木制结构的另一个好处就是省时省力节省人工，建造起来非常快，因此才会有四周就能盖起一栋房的惊人速度。

另一个原因呢是因为木制房屋的特性。相较于封闭的水泥房，木制房屋结构更加宜居，同时因为建造技术和墙中间隔热层的原因更加冬暖夏凉。也有说法是木制结构的房子在地震中更加安全，这一点个人不敢苟同。美帝大部分地区都不在地震带上，然而木制房子依旧是主流。所以我倾向于是成本原因。
