RE: Weekly Update #3 - Coding, Freewriting, Modding

in #coding7 years ago (edited)

Hello! @fitinfun recommended I take a look at this post as a part of my motivate your post thing that I'm doing. Great post (although I know nothing about coding, really, you made it accessible) and I loved your landing page, very clean. As to the freewriting, keep doing it. It is like everything, practice. And you can obviously write well. And part of the point of freewriting is not to judge. In fact some of my freewrites that I hated the most are the ones others liked the most. You don't have to post them, just do them. And don't delete them. Leave them somewhere for a month and then read them. Anyway, I've upvoted this, resteemed it and tweeted about it. I hope you get some more attention. :)

I'm in total agreement about the freewrite except - post them! This is a place we all fall flat on our faces so we can do better later. And I too get amazing responses to the ones I did not want to write or to post.

Fair enough! As I responded to @felt.buzz , I may get into freewriting by taking each topic and write it by adding fantasy-related elements into each "article". That will finally allow me to write more fantasy-related pieces and to get into freewriting.

You could also try going into the freewritehouse contests each week. There is one for the regular posts and one for the poetry. You need to read other people's freewrites and nominate your favs. That way you can read the ones other people do and then that might break the ice for you :)

I may give that a try too. Right now I kinda got excited to approach freewrite topics from a fantasy perspective. It will help me do what I like, get more experience in that field and explore new ideas. I may give it a try on Tuesday I think, after I'm done with the final challenge from FreeCodeCamp, and I'm gonna write about the experience in the next Weekly Update :)

I am in total agreement with the words about freewrite except to say - post them! This is a place we can all fall flat on our faces so we can do better next time. And I too get great responses to those I did not want to write or to post. Freewriters give me the best feedback ever.

Thank you, I really appreciate the support! I'm gonna give freewriting another try soon, but I think I'm gonna do it in a different way - for a long time I wanted to write more fantasy-related pieces, but since I don't have the time to write and edit anything big, I could take freewriting topics and transform them into fantasy-related "articles". Maybe doing that I will actually get some cool results and I'll publish them here.
