"The Millennium Cross is a large steel cross that is 66 meters high and 42 meters wide. The cross is located on the top of Mount Vodno at 1040 meters altitude near Skopje in Macedonia. It is accessible through two streets, some of which are closed at half height (except on weekends), so it takes about four kilometers to walk or bike. In the immediate vicinity are antennas of communication facilities. From the mountain you have a wonderful view of the city of Skopje and the surrounding mountains.
The cross is a symbolic construct. The foundation consists of four pillars, corresponding to the four evangelists. The basement has 12 pillars corresponding to the 12 apostles. The cross is built from 33 floors. This corresponds to the 33 years of Jesus' life. It is an Orthodox and not a Latin cross. This is indicated by the square that was constructed around the crossing point. It also differs from Russian Orthodox crosses, which have a second oblique beam. The cross illuminates the city of Skopje during the night.
