The origin of Batman has been told numerous times, however it appears that "Batman: The Knight" #1 out of 10 is going to begin to dive deeper into Batman's psyche and why he decided to become the caped crusader. We all know about his parents being robbed and killed right in front of him. Nonetheless, how did this young boy handle the outcome of this event mentally. Chip Zdarsky is primed to take the reader down this road of anger and vengeance. Carmine Di Giandomenico's cover artwork, as well as his work inside the issue, brilliantly takes us inside the mind of the Batman.

Young Bruce Wayne is struggling with his feelings and is not helping Dr. Hugo Strange reach him. Maybe, Bruce senses something that he doesn't trust about the hypnotherapist. Fighting is becoming commonplace for the young lad, whether he is defending someone from a bully at school or testing his grappling ability in the underground. All of this is making his faithful butler, Alfred Pennyworth, feel like he failed the young boy and his deceased parents.

The nightmares, the images, and the books he's reading are all factors leading Bruce to feel the need to go away. Yet, he expressed a need to continue his schooling in Gotham because the city needs him. He is disillusioned by all of the corruption around him. Exams weren't his priority because he felt like it held him back. Dana, whom has grown up with Bruce, has witnessed a drastic change in his attitude and personality, leaving her very frustrated. I guess it is finally time for Bruce to go away and find himself and where he needs to go from here!
