for recommended event organizing tools."

So says the left wing publication, Ars Technica's, national security editor.

From reading the 'terms and conditions' I can see why. Why would ANYONE want to grant anyone such a broad range of rights to their stuff?

Most of the terms and conditions are ridiculously broad and lopsided to their favor. They have lawyers and we have no chance to out smart them - it is a take it or leave it mentality.

It appears that the best thing to do would be to leave it.

Yes, as with FB, twitter, Youtube - they are all exercising their unfettered powers granted by the terms and conditions and with stretching the same in the case of FB.

would YOU want to deal with them?

no! I have not been using any of them for years. I work with IT and AI and I know what companies do to know their users.
Most of them, if not all, including the phone apps, make you give them rights to poke around and surrender your rights.

oddly enough...I don't have any aps on myphone.

Talking bout needing a phone - I have dropped / cancelled my monthly post pay phone with AT&T several months ago.
Instead of it, which costed me over $70 / month, I got a pre-pay service and changed it to $2 / day if used.
I then switched to "airplane mode" to not use that but use an IP phone app which cost me nothing to use and also gave me a new number.
Phone numbers from phone contracts are used for identity verification with some government agencies - IRS / soc. sec. and they might require a landline in some instances.
So, that is more the reason for me to ditch all such phone services.

I'll need to invest in a stupid smart phone before I get apps! lolol

All smart phones come with apps ...
weather, utility, calculator, clock, notes, "find my iPhone" - those that come with the phone cannot be deleted.
